Purpose of presentation:
This presentation provides a very basic
introduction to the concept of parts of
speech in language. Actually, the study
of parts of speech can be quite
complicated and involved, but the
purpose of this presentation is to give the
students a working vocabulary and a way
to improve their grasp of grammar.

Article: divided into two types which are


indefinite (A, An) and definite (The)

A is used before a singular countable


noun that begins with a consonant sound.
Ex: Mary bought a doll for her little
sister.
An is used before a singular countable
noun that begins with a vowel sound or a
silent h.
Ex: John gave me an orange.

oceans, rivers and special buildings.

b) We use the when there is only one
thing of its kind.
