QUESTIONNAIRE
RESULTS-

I decided to create a questionnaire to ask my

target audiences questions about my A2 media
coursework and gain feedback from it. To ensure
that I had accurate results I asked an equal
amount of males and females of different ages
to increase representativeness. I asked a range
of open and closed questions which I made on
Survey Monkey, this was to gain qualitative and
quantitative data which would be reliable and
valid. I also made sure that my questions linked
to all of my media tasks which were a film
trailer, a magazine front cover and a poster.

WHAT AGE RANGE DO YOU

What age range do you fall under?
Out of the 20 people I asked you can see
that the majority of them are age 15-20,
this is the age rating my film starts at so
I wanted to start from here. 60% of the
people I asked where 15-20 and the rest
where mostly between 21 and 30 and I
think this is because my film is aimed at
a younger audience.

As you can see from the results, out of the

20 people I asked the majority thought
that my A2 tasks represented a horror or a
thriller which is good because I wanted my
film to be in-between a horror and a
thriller. Only a tiny percentage thought
that it was either a comedy or a sci-fi but I
would rather that no one thought this
because it is the opposite of what I want
my film trailer to be like.

My film trailer is the age rating of 15
and this is because there is some
swearing with a lot of strong violence
and strong threats of horror. Out of
the 20 people I asked 12 of them
thought the age rating was a 15 with
a small amount thinking it was an 18
and an even smaller amount thinking
it was a 12. I thought that it could be
helpful to fain an idea as to whether
we displayed the age rating clearly
and this survey tells us we have.

The music is a big part of the trailer

because it can establish the tone and
atmosphere of the trailer and therefore
convey the genre. Therefore I wanted
dark and eerie music throughout the
trailer as well as The Teddy Bears
Picnic to play at the start because it is
creepy. 18 people said yes and 2 didnt,
this could be because they dont watch
horror/thrillers often and dont like the
genre.

What did you enjoy the most?

I wanted to know what aspect of the

trailer that our demographic audience
enjoyed the most and these are the
main aspects of my trailer. The fact
that most people enjoyed the music
and the mysterious atmosphere the
most and then the characters is good
because there where the most
important parts of the trailer.

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT

THE LENGTH OF THE
TRAILER?
This was an open ended question and I thought that it would be a
good idea to have some open ended questions as well as closed to
gather the best information. The answers I got revolved around my
trailer being a tad short for a trailer because it runs just under two
minutes when most trailers are a minimum of two minutes long.
However some people did say the length of the trailer was fine and
that it was just the right amount of time to grab the audiences
attention but not bore them.

80% of my audience said that the

which is essential in the role of a
trailer. The plot and the genre are
the most important aspects that
influence the audience on whether
they want to go and watch this
film. Only 4 respondents didnt
understand or where unsure of the
plot which means that I could have
been a bit more obvious about
what the film was about.

This question is key as all three aspects come

as a package which come together to
promote this film. Therefore I wanted the
audience to answer whether they all worked
well together and from the results 18 people
answered yes which means they mostly do. 2
people did answer no but this is a closed
question. In my second question I asked why
and the main answer was because the
character of the man behind the mask ties
into all the media products which makes the
audience want to know who he is, this is what
I wanted because I wanted suspense of who
the killer could be.

Out of the 20 people I asked 17 said

that they were intrigued to know what
was going to happen, this means that
over 80% of my target audience would
go and watch this film. This also shows
me that I managed to construct my
trailer well without giving too much of
the plot away and that is what I
wanted to do the most.

Even though a big majority of my target

audience said yes, 5 still said no and I
think this is because I rushed the editing
quite a bit so it could have been a lot
better than it was. Editing is what takes
the longest time and is used to make sure
that the trailer runs smoothly and looks
professional. I am still very pleased that
15 people said which but as I said before I
could have spent a lot more time of
editing my trailer and making it perfect.

This question is mainly about the

influence of the magazine front cover
and trailer by themselves. A trailer is
the best way for the audience to see
what the film is about but I wanted to
have an idea of the effect of my two
other products. Over 75% of the people
who answered said yes which is
pleasing because it means I managed
to convey the genre and aspects of the
plot into pictures. Even though 4
people said no it may because they
dont prefer magazine/posters to get
their information from. Out of the
people who said yes, the reason why

Because this is an open ended question it allows my target
audience to give their honest opinion of whether or not they would
go to see my film after looking at my trailer, poster and magazine
front cover. Overall, 80% of my respondents said that they would
go and watch the film which is very pleasing because it means that
I conveyed the genre well and was able to influence them to go and
watch my product. The reason that people said that they would go
to see my film was because of the suspense in my trailer as well as
a good plot. The 20% of people who said they wouldnt see my film
was because they didnt like the genre that much or said that the
plot didnt interest them and everyone has their own opinion but
I'm glad a high percentage would go and see my film.
