TRANSFORMER
Atransformeris
a static electrical
device that
transfers energy
by
inductive couplin
g
between its
winding circuits.
Without change
of frequency.

Transformer Components

1)BUCHHOLZ RELAY: it is a very sensitive gas and oil

operated instrument which safely detect the formation
of
gas or sudden pressure inside the oil transformer.
2)CONSERVATOR: it is used to provide adequate space
for the
expansion of oil when transformer is loaded or when
ambient
temperature changes.
3)SILICA GEL BREATHER: it sucks the moisture from
the air
which is taken by transformer so that dry air is taken
by
transformer.
4)OIL LEVEL INDICATOR: it is used to show the oil level
in
the transformer.
5)winding temprature indicator: used to show the
temprature of transformer winding.
6)RADIATORS: these are used for cooling of the
transformer

Circuit breaker
A circuit breaker is
an automatically
operated electrical
switch designed to
protect an electrical
circuit from damage
caused by overload
or short circuit.
It's basic function is
to detect fault
condition and
interrupt current
flow.

Types of circuit breakers

MCB (Miniature circuit breakers)
MCCB (Molded case circuit breaker)
RCCB (Residual current circuit breaker)
Common trip breaker (Two and three pole
TPN)
ACB (Air circuit breaker)
VCB (Vacuum circuit breaker)
OCB (Oil circuit breaker)
SF6 CB( Sulphur hexafluoride circuit
breaker)
Other (Earth leakage, auto close, poly
switch)

DIESEL GENERATOR
EMERGENCY POWER (EAC)
system
Purposes of the
EMERGENCY POWER
(EAC) system
The purpose of the
EDG is to provide a
reliable on-site source
of AC electrical power
to maintain the ability
to safely shutdown the
reactor under all
conditions, including a
LOCA coincident with
a Loss of Offsite Power
(LOP)

UPS

An Uninterruptible power supply

(UPS) is also known as a battery
back-up, which provides emergency
power and line regulation to the
power from a separate source when
utility power is not available

Standby UPS
diagram

HOW IT IS DIFFER FROM AN INVERTER

UPS - The very name

indicates that there is no
interruption in the power
supply.The switchover
time is 3-8 millisecond.
Inverter - There is an
interruption and
however, it is negligible.
The switchover time is
3-5 sec

CONTROL PANEL
Acontrol panelis area where
control or monitoring instruments
are displayed. Mainly control
panels are most often equipped with
push buttons and analog
instruments but in many cases touch
screensare used for monitoring and
control purposes.

CONTROL PANEL

BATTERY ROOM
There is a
separate room
called the DC
BATTERY ROOM.
It constitutes of
number of
batteries. There
is a separate
battery set for
each UPS.

BATTERY CELL
VOLTAGE

Each cell element of the battery produces

approximately 2.1,regardless of the quantity or size
of the plates. The battery shown have six cells that
are connected in series ,which total produces voltage
of 12.6 Volts.

SHUNT CAPACITOR BANK

Shunt capacitor banks
(SCB) are mainly installed
to provide capacitive
reactive compensation/
power factor correction
The use of SCBs has
increased because they
are relatively
inexpensive,
easy and quick to install
and can be deployed
virtually anywhere in the
network
