HISTORY:The first bank in India though conservative,

was established in 1786, from 1786 till


today, the journey of India banking system
can be segregated in to three distinct
phases.

each group has its own benefits and limitations in


operations. Each has its own dedicated market
some banks are of India origin and some are foreign
players.

ICICI Bank was originally promoted in 1994 by ICICI

Limited, an Indian financial institution, and was its whollyowned subsidiary. ICICI's shareholding in ICICI Bank was
reduced to 46% through a public offering of shares in India
in fiscal 1998, an equity offering in the form of ADRs listed
on the NYSE in fiscal 2000, ICICI Bank's acquisition of Bank
of Madura Limited in an all-stock amalgamation in fiscal
2001, and secondary market sales by ICICI to institutional
investors in fiscal 2001 and fiscal 2002. ICICI was formed
in 1955 at the initiative of the World Bank, the
Government of India and representatives of Indian
industry. The principal objective was to create a
development financial institution for providing mediumterm and long-term project financing to Indian businesses.

Work Life Balance


Changes in the social, political and economic fabric of

societies have influenced and continue to influence both


the nature of employment and its relationship to life
outside work. This project is set against a background of
changing trends in the work environment. In the 1970s
the academic literature was awash with articles
assuming the continuation of trends predicting huge
increases in leisure time for the 21st century.
Work-life balance is central to debates about quality of
working life and its relation to broader quality of life.
Much has been written on the subject and this project
represents an attempt to extrapolate and synthesis the
main themes before exploring the nature of work-life
balance.

Worklife balance is a broad concept including

proper prioritizing between "work" (career and


ambition) on the one hand and "life" (Health,
pleasure, leisure, family and spiritual
development) on the other. Related, though
broader, terms include "lifestyle balance" and
"life balance". Work-life Balance also referred
to as family friendly work arrangements
(FFWA), and, in international literature, as
alternative work arrangements (AWA).

Research Problem
Work life balance in one of the prominent

aspect in the yield of HR as employees are


required to maintain their work life balance
to work efficiently, also the private banking
sector are having continues target to be
achieved. So I have selected the topic
work life balance of employees in pvt.
Banking sector.

Research Objectives
To study quality of work life balance in pvt.

Banks HDFC and ICICI.


To identify the various factor the lead to
work life balance.
To identify the variables factors reduces the
work life balance.
To understand the perceptions of the
employees with respect to work-life
balance.
To put forth suggestions to enhance worklife balance quotient of organizations.

Hypothesis Framework
Ho1: There is no significant difference in the

perception of quality of work life balance


among the employee of ICICI and HDFC.

Suggestion
HDFC Bank employees are more satisfied

as compared to ICICI Bank employees.


ICICI Bank Should Increase the facilities and

working condition for employees which will


assist for managing work life balance and
compete the market.
Private Banks are more increasing facilities

for managing work life balance. So that will


resulted into satisfaction of employees and
ultimate to the productivity.

Conclusion
There is more growth in bank as compared

to previous years. Private banks are


providing more number of facilities and that
will resulted into more efficiency of
employees which will help a lot more
progress of banks.
