Family History

Chandrakala was born in 1942

Academic Qualification BA
Great grandfather origin from Bhaktpur, moved to
Darjeeling and then Assam.
Father Bhakta Bahadur Pradhan
Mother Kumari Pradhan song writer, mai chhori sundari
Married to Dr. Dil Bahadur Shrestha at age 19, met at
the stage singing when Dharmaraj Thapa came in
Assam
Have 2 sons and 2 daughter, one passed away at the
age 0f 35
2 grandsons and one granddaughter.

Migration

1990 whole family moved to Nepal

because of political reasoning in Assam
Right after moving, recorded 2 songs
with Radio Nepal
Did not see respect for a singer at
that time
Focused more in Story writing and
Poetry writing

Her writing is simple, facile and attractive.
Her stories carry the ecstasies and agonies
of human life.
Her imageries are deeply felt as well as
fanciful observations.

widow, sufferer.

Chandrakala Fought with

Many Misfortune in Life
Her father was a freedom fighter of India. He
was jailed again and again for his activities. Her
father and his uncle lost their jobs. This harsh
punishment disturbed the Pradhan household.
Chandra Kalas mother and grandmother
blamed her for this.
During one Deepavali festival her house caught
fire and everything in the house turned to
ashes.
She gave birth a beautiful daughter. She dreamt
of training her to be a good singer. But she was
diagnosed with infantilitis. She passed away at
the age of 35 without speaking a word.
