ABSTRACT
Pulse oximetry has become a standard for patient monitoring in
the operating room, and the finger is the most common site used.
Fingers are more susceptible to inaccuracies and so the external
INTRODUCTION
The technique involves an accurate and robust measure of
arterial oxygen saturation (SpO2) by shining light into the
vascular tissue, and measuring the changes in light
absorbance produced during arterial pulsations .
The principle involved in measuring the glucose level in
blood is occlusion spectroscopy which assures accurate,
convenient, and affordable glucose measurement.
PROPOSED METHOD
Earlier pulse oximetry was done at the sites like fingers, ear
lobe and the toes.
The existing of pulse oximetry is based on the red and infrared
light absorption characteristics of oxygenated and
deoxygenated hemoglobin.
The device passes two wavelengths of light through the body
part to a photodetector. It measures the changing absorbance at
each of the wavelengths, allowing it to determine the
absorbances due to the pulsing arterial blood alone, excluding
venous blood, skin, bone, muscle and fat.

CONCLUSION
Thus pulse oximetry is done at the external auditory canal
using the optical probe.
The glucose level are measured.
The heart rate is also measured.
