Most of the dancers you

see are of color.

Mainly Individual, but can

also be danced in groups.

South Central, Los

Angeles.

Originated from Clowning,

but went its own course
because it was too
Aggressive.

When they face off

against someone its
called a Battle, can be
one-on-one or groups.

Anybody can do the

dance; Men women, and

Head, Arms, chest, and

legs.

Very Intimidating.

High and Low to the

ground.

When they dance they act

like they own the ground,
so the space is really close
and wide.

When they dance they

dance to prove something,
that they are the best and
intimidating Dancer.

Its a workout.

Hip- hop

OPPRESSIO
N Some people discriminated hip-hop for not

being a real music because there were a lot

of rap words. They also thought that it was
bringing more violence, drugs especially in
the hoods in the late 1980s and in the 1990s.
The evidence came from when the rappers
Tupac and Biggie Smalls or the Notorious
B.I.G got murdered in 1996 and 1997.

They also stereotyped hip-hop talking only

about black lifestyles with gang, guns, and
clothes especially for the young men.
They also stereotyped people for dressing
inappropriately.

EVOLUTUTIO
N OF
CULTURAL
EXPRESSION

Nowadays the hip-hop is viewed as entertainment for both music and dance. It
has been spread to the entire world. Its being performed not only in concerts but
also in the streets, dance clubs and in the music and art festivals with dancers
dancing the moves to entertain audiences.
The hip-hop encourages people especially the young one from difference races to
be more confident and to be part of it.

CONTRIBUTI
ON The hip-pop language uses common words like, cool, swing, chill.
Clothes like pants even more stretched , sweaters, caps and shoes
like Adidas, Nike, and Converse are mostly being bought.

What has been lost in the process?

Clowning------------> Krumping
During the years krumping borrowed clowning base for awhile. These days, each
dance style has been evolved enough to be considered its own entity.
When Krumping first originally started it was called Clowning.
Clowning face painting. This is no longer done in krumping.
Clowning is physically smoother also adding in things like the C-Walk. Krumping then
transformed Physically harsher type of style. (dance expression of range)

How did the minority react to krumping?

Many of us dont know why African Americans started krumping?
They started to krump to stay out of trouble including gangs violence it helped them release aggression in a
nonviolent way. Also saved their lives.
Often competing one and one with others. Mocking - taunting their opponents.
Whites thought it was Silly.
Some thought the style of krumping was insane.
It was something new. Being called ghetto
Coming from the streets.
It

looks like a branch from normal african tribe dancing. THE BLACKS ARE TRYING TO MAKE AMERICA AFRICA
ITS A CONSPIRACY!!!!!

Became Popular
Krumping had a huge impact on pop culture.
About 6 years ago Madonna came out with a new song hung up. Krumping is
involved.

What I learned to appreciate about krumping?

It tells a story through violence from his or her character.
Its not based on pretty moves.
Krumping is more original it's about the feelings you bring out than anything else.
There is no right or wrong way to express yourself.
Not many of us can krump.

How are we similar?

We as humans have similarities with krumping the aggression we have when we are
upset. We sometimes are pounding stomping those are some similar dance moves to
krumping.
Face expression
Hand movement
The body language
Pointing at your opponent
