Present Tense with Future

Meaning
Timetables : we use present
simple to talk about events which
we expect to happen, because they
are part of a timetable (e.g. a flight
timetable, a train timetable, a school
or college timetable or calendar, a
cinema programme, a TV schedule, a
shop timetable):

Example..
Their train leaves at 6 pm !
Hurry up harry, collage assembly is in
five minutes
Today is the last day of the journey,
Valarie goes back home tomorrow
What time does the class finish?
The Glees tv series ends next week
Oh God, the library is shut and they
dont open tomorrow

Present Tense with Future

Meaning

Plans : we use the

present continuous to talk
abaout people (or
organizations) and
their plans

Alex is moving into her new flat next week
The computers programmer is coming on Tuesday

for friday?)
We dont use be in the present continuous, to talk about
a plan; we often use the present simple:
Maura is driving to her village on tuesday shes there
till Thursday.

When for the future we can use when to talk about a

time in the future; we usually use the present simple
after when:
Will you still be here, when I get home?
When I finish the english class, Ill pick you up.
When I get cough, Ill eat some medicine.

We can also use the present perfect with when to talk

about something that will happen first before something
else will happen:
example:
ill send my mother a letter when Ive finished my
homework.
