Lathe Machine
machine tool in which the work,
while revolving on a horizontal
axis, is acted upon by cutting
tool made to move slowly in
direction parallel to the axis of
the work.
Types of Lathes
Turret Lathe - consists of multiple section tool holders or turrets, allowing the
production of multiple cuts.
Engine Lathe has a tailstock that can be moved longitudinally along the bed.
Precision Lathe - for delicate operation or too much precision is needed.
Automatic Screw Machine - has only one spindle used for turning screw
machine.
Milling Machine
a machine tool in which metal is
removed by means of a revolving
cutter with many teeth, each tooth
having a cutting edge which removes
its share of the stock. It is normally
used in the fabrication of gears.
Broaching Machine
machine tool used to finish
internal or external surfaces, such
as holes or keyways by the use of
cutter called a broach, which has
a series of cutting edges or teeth.

Drilling Machine
a device usually motor- driven
fitted with an end cutting tool
that is rotated with sufficient
power either to create a hole
or to enlarge an existing hole.
Power Saw
machine tool used to cut metal parts of light,
medium, and large sections using a reciprocating
hacksaw blade.
Tool Grinder
machine tool used to sharpen or shape tools by
using an abrasive wheel.
Planer
a machine tool used for production
of flat surfaces or pieces too large or
too heavy or perhaps too awkward
to hold in a shaper.
Boring Machine
a machine tool used to enlarge a hole
by means of an adjustable cutting tool
with only one cutting edge and
designed to machine internal work
such as cylinders, holes in casting and
dies.

Jig and Single
Rough Turning process of removing excess materials into the required dimension given in
the plan by the use finishing tool
Parting process of dividing or cutting the work piece into the required dimension by the use
of parting tool
Drilling process of producing a hole in the work piece
Boring process of enlarging the drilled hole using a boring tool
Counter Boring process of enlarging the bored hole using the counter bored cutter.
Counter Sinking process of enlarging the upper part of the hole by producing a conical
shape where the fillister head screw is placed
Spot Facing enlarging one side of the hole to serve as a lock of a bolt with an oblong head
Reaming - sizing up the hole by the use of a reamer.
Threading - cutting grooves in a cylinder, either internally or externally by using the correct and
required form of cutter.
Knurling is the process of designing the surface of work piece by the use of two round steel tools
connected on the same lever with many varieties of sizes and forms moving at opposite direction.
Filling - removing the edge of the work piece to allow the easy entrance of the tool bit.
Facing- removing the excess material in the cross- section of the work piece by using facing tool.
