INTRODUCTION
Lampshades cover the light bulbs of pendant
(hanging), floor and table lamps and are made of
various materials and shapes. It is one of the
necessities when it comes to home and office use
but not everyone has this product. Our main
objective is to unveil the native materials in the
Philippines. We also aim the betterment of use of
indigenous materials found in our country. The
main purpose is to decorate every homes and
offices with elegant design lampshade and make
it available with multiple purposes.

OVERVIEW
This product with a code-named Plantasia
Lampshade, addresses three (3) top
requirements.
[1] Meeting the emerging market need for
illumination solution and modern design lights,
[2] boosting internal quality and supportability
of the product for the possible consumer, and
[3] increasing the convenience of consumers
through the modern-usage of high quality
lampshades.

TARGET MARKET
Our Group will be focusing on the corporate/working class,
students and home owners who appreciate good quality
lampshade made of indigenous material.
The corporate or managerial segment will constitute those
managers who often work, want to put aside their ties and
jackets after hours to relaxed themselves and listen to music
they prepare to reduce stress and think of some things
outside of work with a relaxing shed of light.
The students constitute those who rent an apartment (or
boarding house) nearby school, it will be a great use for them
specially when they study or just wanted to listen to music
than to watch television.
For home owners, it can be used as a decoration in the living
room or used it in the bedroom so that whenever the lights
turned off, Plantasia Lampshade can be used together with
the built-in speaker.

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS
Plantasia Lampshade is an eco-friendly
lampshade. This aspect can be related to the
raw materials used, production, the impact it
has on the environment during use or the way in
which it can be disposed of.
This product focuses on the raw materials used,
based on the principles of recycling, sustainable
materials use and the use of waste materials.
The materials used are: (1) yarn, (2) electric
materials, (3) Bamboo Stick, (4) glue,
(5)wire(alambre), (6) paint, (7) flowerpot ,
(8)speaker, (9) stones.

Required Features
Functionality: for lampshades, functionality is viewed as
a basic quality requirement. It needs to be safe to use, as
they are close to a heat source and should not ignite, for
example by coating them with a flame retardant.
Moreover, the lampshades need to diffuse light coming
from the light bulb they cover, without blocking all the
light.
Eco-friendly/made of indigenous material: This is the
main quality requirement aside from functionality. There
are no set conditions for what constitutes eco-friendliness.
However, this often entails eco-friendly materials such as
bamboo stick, flowerpot and stones.
Design: the aesthetic value of eco lampshades needs to
be high, especially as they usually serve as eye-catchers
in the room or home

Desired Features
Built-in alarm clock: Since it can also be displayed in bedrooms, adding
another specification like built-in alarm clock will make it more interesting
product due to its multiple purposes.
Use of LED Lights: This product when used with LED light uses a less
power (watts) per unit of light generated (lumens). LEDs help reduce
greenhouse gas emissions from power plants and lower electric bills. From our
survey, it showed that it is the number one requirement of the market but as of
now, we cant afford its price but sooner or later, we will provide for this
better specification once we see a good result of our product.
Battery Operated: Since we are using pure electricity to our product, we
also plan this lampshade to be operated even without electricity so that it can
also be useful during brownout.

ESTIMATED DEVELOPMENT COST

ESTIMATED PRODUCT LIFE

Plantasia Lampshade will be available in the market from the
date of its release until 6 to 12 months before replacing it with a
new product or version. This time frame is considered so that we
can study our customers and we will try to see if there is an
increasing number of potential customers. 6 months of making it
available in the market will help us to develop again new ideas
and make more innovative product which can be obtain by
observing deeply the consumer behavior with that span of that
given time.

DISTRIBUTION
Our plan of distribution will be Direct Marketing or Direct
Selling. Since our product is something old but new in the
market, it will be more convenient if presented and sell directly
to customers so they can gain knowledge about what this
lampshade can do and what it is all about. It can be effective
especially when customers are satisfied with this lampshade.
Word-of-mouth that can create a buzz can also be a possibility.
Furthermore, the plan for more scope of distribution will be
conducted after the product has been known in the market.

LICENSING REQUIREMENT
Consumer Act of the Philippines: this provision under Republic
Act no. 7394 applies to all consumer products. It states that it is the
policy of the State to protect the interests of the consumer, promote
his general welfare and to establish standards of conduct for business
and industry.
In putting up a business, there are several government agencies you have to
register with depending on the type of business you are in. These are the following:

Barangay Clearance
Mayors Permit
Department of Trade and industry
Bureau of internal Revenue

MANUFACTURING

PACKAGING
Since our product is in large size we decided to place it in a
hard cardboard box covered with a transparent material on its top
and sides; this is how our product is packed. We put this
transparent cover so that customer can view whats inside and the
use of hard cardboard is to maintain its shape and it is the
intended purpose of the packaging to make our product readily
sellable as well to protect it against damage and prevent it from
deterioration while storing.

PROMOTION
Promotion refers to raising customer awareness of a product
or brand, generating sales, and creating brand loyalty. It is the
advancement of a product, idea, or point of view through
publicity or advertising. Thats why we are promoting our
product through flyers and posters. We are also planning to
promote it using TVCs, Radio ads and website in the near future
when our product is already available in the wide market, but for
now we do direct selling to those who want to buy and test it in
the market.

DOCUMENTATION
We are providing hardcopy instruction manuals on
how to use the product. We printed all the details and it
is placed inside the box with the lampshade. They can
also see our page to look for the instructions needed.
More detailed documentation will be implemented soon.
It can also be on the internet (Social Media Sites).

MAINTENANCE
Providing the installation and instructions for
the proper usage of the lampshade will be cater
by us. Any problems or malfunctions in this
product will be entertained and whatever
customers concern will be heard.

FORECAST/COST
The estimated sale of the product will be higher than its
cost/expenses. We expect for higher return on capital of Plantasia
Lampshade.

IMPACT ON OTHER PRODUCTS

It is one of a kind lampshade; no one in the market offers this
new specification with a lower price. Consumers will gain
knowledge about what other things a lampshade can do. This
product will also bring more lampshade manufacturer to make more
innovative product to satisfy the needs and wants of a customer.
Our product is different from the others, and it is our edge to
say that it can have a large impact on sales. When it comes to
quality, uniqueness, and the materials used to make an innovative
lampshade consumers would rather switch to our Plantasia
Lampshade.

The product will be available after the day of
the launching of Plantasia Lampshade and we
will do direct selling first.
