INTRODUCTION

Our project involves analysis and design of multi-storey [G + 5] building in

Moradabad. Using a very popular designing software STAAD Pro. We have
chosen STAAD Pro because of its following advantages: easy to use interface
conformation with the Indian Standard Codes
versatile nature of solving any type of problem
Accuracy of the solution

Physical parameters of building
Length = 4 bays @ 5.0m = 20.0m
Width = 3 bays @ 5 m =15.0m
Height = 4m + 5 storeys @ 3.3m = 20.5m
(1.0m parapet being non- structural for
seismic purposes, is not considered of
building frame height)
Live load on the floors is 2kN/m2
Live load on the roof is 0.75kN/m2

Supports
The base supports of the structure were
assigned as fixed. The supports were
generated using the STAAD.Pro support
generator.

Loading
The loadings were calculated partially manually and rest
was generated using STAAD.Pro load generator.
LOAD CASE APPLYING AS PER IS 800-2007

Load combinations
Load combinations for design purposes shall be
those that produce maximum forces and effects and
consequently maximum stresses and deformations.
The following combination of loads with appropriate
partial safety factors (see Table 4) maybe considered.
Dead load + imposed load,
Dead load + imposed load + wind or earthquake load,
Dead load + wind or earthquake load,

Member Design
Once the load cases and combinations
under which the steel design is to be
checked
against are provided (Design Load
Envelopes), the actual physical members
need to be
created along with their restraint and
specification attributes. The Member
Design page
consists of four sub-pages to help
facilitate this input. As of STAAD.Pro and
IS 800 standards are supported.
