The Common Denominator of Success

Successful people have the habit of doing
things failures dont like to do. They
dont like doing them either, necessarily,
but their disliking is subordinated to the
strength of their purpose.
- Albert Gray

What is a Personal Vision Statement

A statement of long term aspiration
A Statement of what you want to be or do that transcends

The monumental change you could foresee that will happen

to the society at large by your action/idea or dream but that is

truly challenging.
A picture of distant outcome that is bigger than your current

capabilities.

Personal Management

Prioritize Your Priorities

Pareto principle is called the 20-80% rule.
It attempts at attributing significant outcome to a vital few

factors, leveraging the findings from Vilfredo Paretos

economic research in 1906
The 80/20 principle asserts that for many events, roughly
80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes.
It is the Law of the Vital Few controlling a significant
output. All things may appear important, but some are
more important than others.
Some many things may appear very significant to achieving
desired results but in reality only few things will take us to
our goal

Prioritize Your Priorities

Pareto Principle is a key personal effectiveness
technique and outputs from using it could include:
80 per cent of interruptions come from 20 per cent

of the people
80 per cent of an equipment budget comes from
20 per cent of the items
80 per cent of benefit comes from the first 20 per
cent of effort
80 per cent of complaints are about 20 per cent of
your services

Prioritize Your Priorities contd.

80 per cent of your time is spent on 20% of the

problem
80 per cent of the decisions made in meetings
come from 20 per cent of the meeting time
80 per cent of innovation comes from 20 per cent
of the staff
80 per cent of staff problems come from 20 per
cent of the staff
80 per cent of your success comes from 20 per cent
of your efforts

Become a Proactive Person

There are two major types of people in the
world:

Those that make things happen.

And those that wait to react to what has happened.
