TITHE
(/ta/; from Old English: teogoa
"tenth") is a one-tenth part of
something, paid as a contribution to a
religious organization. Altough today the
Tithe mainly paid in cheques, cash, or
stocks, similiar to zakat in islam but in
the past the Tithe can be well diverse
ranging from natural products and even
donating land for the purpose of the
religious organization or community.
tithe can be seen in Matthew 23:23 in
support of tithing while others see it as
a denunciation of false piety :
"Away with you, you pettifogging
Pharisee lawyers! You give to God a
tenth of herbs, like mint, dill, and cumin,
but the important duties of the Law
judgement, mercy, honesty you have
neglected. Yet these you ought to have
performed, without neglecting the
others."
Conclusion
Is indonesian wakaf regulation already
good ?
From the slide presented by the author it can be concluded that
wakaf has been well regulated by government law number 41 year
2004 about wakaf from how to do wakaf, the requirements and
penal policy altough one should be noted is how the managing of
wakaf in indonesia are mainly stagnant on the use of the
properties like building mosque. The value of the land and/or
building above it is not fully used. Indonesia can take example of
how kuwait manage the waqf as the properties not only stay as
just stagnant but also managed to give benefit to people by
investment.
One way it may be because the Mauquf Alaih is being careful in
managing the properties entrusted by wakif so that its valoe
doesnt decrease and also the lack of resources to manage it unlike
Kuwaits KAPF that directly manages it.
