HISTORY
Universal Studios (also known as Universal Pictures and formerly Universal Film
Manufacturing Company, and also simply referred to as Universal) is an
American film studio owned by Comcast
The company was founded in 1912 by Carl Laemmle, Mark Dintenfass, Charles
O. Baumann, Adam Kessel, Pat Powers, William Swanson, David Horsley, Robert
H. Cochrane, and Jules Brulatour
Universal is the oldest surviving film studio in the United States, as well the
world's fourth oldest
Its studios are currently located in Universal City, California and its corporate
offices are located in New York City. Universal Studios is a member of the Motion
Picture Association of America and is one of Hollywood's "Big Six" studios.

In the early 1950s, Universal set up its own distribution company in France
In the late 1960s, they also set up a production company in Paris
