Robber Coverage

Why the 3-3 ?

I am an odd front guy
It fits our defensive philosophy
We play better athletes than with a 4 man front
It adjusts to everything from full house to empty
(5 DBs)
Ability to play maximum cover (drop 8) or
pressure from the same look

Common 3-3 Misperceptions

The 3-3 is a blitz crazy defense
The 3-3 is weak off tackle
The only coverage you can play is 3 and 1

Auburn Football
Defensive Philosophy
Get the ball back !!!
Play with great effort and emotion
Be a great tackling team
Stop the run. Get an unblocked player to the
point of attack
Be sound in perimeter leverage and pass
coverage (eliminate big plays)

Cover 4
Robber Coverage
Cover 4 is the base coverage for this defense.

It provides both a sound coverage scheme against multiple formations

and outstanding run support.
Because of the run fit possibilities of the Free Safety, this coverage
allows for a nine man front against two back formations.
Against the pass, Cover 4 is a match-up zone coverage where each side
of the defense has a choice of combinations to best cover the opponents
receivers.
The objective of the base coverage is to have a 3 on 2 match up
advantage to each side of the ball.
