Causes/Factors of Prostitution
Prostitutes have a history of homelessness, unemployment,
incarceration, and/or mental health issues
Exchanging sex for the generation of income, medicine, and
other necessities to support their daily life
Inequality of genders men demand for sex continuously
keeps women oppressed.

Effects of Prostitution
More prone to obtain sexual disease due to them being
sexual active
Prostitution can lead to drug and alcohol abuse
Often can lead to mental health issues, such as PTSD
Ability to lead to more violence

Types of Prostitution
Street: Workers solicit
around streets or parks
Brothel: Housing with
prostitutes that clients visit
Escort: Prostitutes are
contacted, usually by
phone, and worker goes to
the client

Types of Prostitution
CB Radio: Workers travel along major roads/highways
using the radio for truck drivers
Transport: Prostitutes are on board vehicles such as
ships or trains and clients are the crew and/or
passengers
All-male Venues: Workers hang around places such as
barber shops and mining camps

In Favor of Legalization
Will make the industry safer for the
workers
Some say it creates a career option
Criminalization makes the current
problems worse
