History and Background information


The University of Pittsburgh was founded in 1787. It was
first called the Pittsburgh academy. It was located in a
cabin on the american frontier. On February 18th , 1819
the Pennsylvania legislature renames the school as the
Western University of Pennsylvania. Later on the
university was moved into a three story building which
later burnt down. The school later changed its name
from Western University of Pennsylvania to the
University of Pittsburgh (Pitt).
Description of college
The University of Pittsburgh is a public college. There is
no religious affiliation, however religious courses are
offered. It is a co-ed University. It is located in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Pitt is a large school that is in
a urban environment.
