TECH PACK
What is Tech pack?

A Tech pack is an informative sheet that designees create

to communicate with a manufacturer all the necessary
components needed to construct a product.

Typically designees will include measurements, materials,

colours, frim, hardware, grading, labels, tags etc.,

Any crucial aspect of your design needs to be described

in your tech pack. The more detailed tech pack is the less
room there is for error
TECH PACK
Why do you need a Tech pack ?

with the tech pack, designees are more likely to get a sample or
product made correctly with minimal errors.

Supplying a tech pack to a manufacturer to translate your idea

into actual product.

it also allows the manufacturer to make a product without having

to refer back to the designer several times.

when creating products, manufacturer can reference the tech pack

to make sure they aren't overlooking any aspect of your designs.
TECH PACK
How do you make a Tech pack?

Designees can use adobe illustrator to create a

tech pack, or work with technical designer.

when creating a tech pack with adobe illustrator,

you can export them into a PDF to send digitally
or add to your [Brand project on Markers row]
designees can also find the templates online that
can format the layout for you.
SAMPLING
INTRODUCTION
Garment sampling is very much important process. Its is
a model of what the bulk production is going to be done.

Sampling is quite difficult, but it will make the buyer to

get attractiveness towards the industry because the
buyer generally places the order after they are satisfied
with the quality of the samples.

Garment sampling is very important task in an apparel

manufacturing, because it gives the satisfaction of the
customer with respect to the product being
manufactured.
SAMPLING
Sampling is in turn important because if the buyer is not
satisfied by the samples, this puts the following at risks:
Placement of the order.
Acceptance of the some or the entire quantity of garments produced.

There may be separate sampling department in a company.

But as the merchandiser is a person who is interacting with
the buyer regarding the samples and other requirements.

Sampling department will work under the guidance also as

the samples are to be made according to the buyers price
ranges and quality levels, merchandiser has to advice.
PURPOSE OF SAMPLING
To allow the buyer to judge the production
capabilities of the manufacturer.

To provide a means for making revisions in

the bulk production process.

To let the manufacturers estimate the

thread and fabric consumption and
develop cost quotations.
GARMENT SAMPLE DETAILS
After the confirmation of the order each sample sent to the
buyer has the following details attached to it with help of a tag.
It contains the details of both what the buyer has demanded
and what the supplier fabric/frim etc., they have used.

SAMPLING PROCESS
The process of sample department varies
continuously and the development process will
covers a wide range of unique products from
new fibers, fiber blends, new yarn, fabric
structures, finishes and surface effects new
technology.

All types of made up products such as woven,

knit wear, hosiery cut, and seven garments,
household products technical and medical
products.
SAMPLING PHASES
First Phase it covers the development of the initial
concept of idea and getting the approval by the customer.

Second phase it covers the process after getting

acceptance of the first prototype sample and carry out the
functions of sourcing and ordering component, testing the
product and carry out trails once the finalized sample
specifications has been drawn up.

Third phase/Final phase - it includes a range of

activities that are carried out before large scale or bulk
production capacity outside the producer/developers if this
is needed.
SAMPLING - types
Eight types of samples needed for completing
the garment. They are.

Proto sample
Fit sample
Size set sample
Counter sample
Salesman sample (SMS)
Pre-production sample (PPS)
Top over production sample (TOP)
Shipment sample
SAMPLING - types
Proto sample:-
The very first sample given into buyer and it is
prepared according to the buyer specification.

its also a trail sample prepared on product

development department and buyer wants to see have
that how its look likes after applying new design on it.

Any type of fabric and colour can be used here . This

type of sample 2-3 pcs garments should be made where
1 pc for the manufactures and rest of those are sent to
the buyer for correction.
SAMPLING - types
Fit Sample:- (After approving proto sample)

Fit sample should be made by the following buyer provided

measurement sheet. It can be made by using similar fabric,
nearer GSM and any colour.

In fit sample, stitching and measurement must be 100%

accurate. More fabrication and colour can be changed but no
compromise on stitching and measurement.

At Fit sample 2-3 pcs of garments are used, where 1 pc kept

by the manufacturer and rest of others are sent to the buyer.
SAMPLING - types
Size Set Sample:- (After approving fit sample)

Its based on the approved sample, all the other sizes

samples should be graded here and make pattern for
different sizes.

Here they make 2-3 pcs sample for each size of that
order. Manufacturer keep 1pc sample for himself and send
1pc or 2pc sample to the buyer for cutting approval.

Without the size set sample approval, cutting should

not be started.
SAMPLING - types
Counter Sample:-
This sample is based on the comments received from
the buyer. Eg:-2-3 pcs garments required.

Salesman Sample(SMS):-
Its is used by the sales team of buyer to enhance the
sales of any garment. Buyer send the sample by salesman
in the market to receive market feedback from customers.

It is done approximately 200-500 pcs depending on the

customers and season. The main objects of SMS sample
are to check market, feedback, Buyers design etc.
SAMPLING - types
Pre-production sample(PPS):-
Pre-production sample should be made in actual production line
by maintaining all actual of an order specification. Its is the main
stage of a garments order where any sample may be approved or
rejected.

if the product approves, they can go for the rest of the process of
that order, if it rejects then there will be a revision of previous
processes.

PPC(planning production and control) department also involved in

this stage. Once PPC department is involved then theres no way for
accepting of any style change. Its critical stage than others stage.
Extra care must be needed here to confirm an order correctly.
SAMPLING - types
TOP over production sample(TOP):-
while running a order in production line, a few samples sent
to the buyer or buyers Q, C as top sample.
Top sample has a great importance in achieving certification of
whole order. If TOP sample failed to approve its required quality
then whole order will be resumed.

Shipment sample:-
Shipment sample is needed at the final inspection, when
goods are ready for the shipment.
This sample that reflects what buyers will receive down to
Q.C, folding, tagging, bagging, labelling and final packaging
included.
Conclusion
The merchandiser has to consider all
the quality parameters related to the
samples to be developed in case of
non-conformities in the sample
developed. Revised samples may be
sending for approval purpose. It is the
duty of the merchandiser to dispatch
the developed samples on the time to
the concerned buyers.
