The red liquid that circulates in the
arteries and veins of humans and other vertebrate animals, carrying oxygen to and carbon dioxide from the tissues of the body. What is blood made up of.
Blood consist of several types of cells
floating around a fluid called plasma.
(RBC) contain hemoglobin, a portion that
binds oxygen.
The white blood cells fights infections.
The platelets help the blood to clot.
Classifications of blood.
Human blood there have two classification.
1. Plasma. (Is the liquid part of blood which carries everything else. Plasma is a straw-yellow color liquid.) 2. Blood cell. (a blood cell is a cell produced through hematopoiesis and found mainly in the blood) Functions of blood.
There are Three functions of blood
1. Transportation. (the blood transports dissolved gases, nutrients, hormones and metabolic wastes) 2. Protection. (platelets in the blood and clotting proteins minimize blood loss when a vessels is damaged) 3. Regulation. (blood regulates body temperature) Composition of blood. The blood is composed of cells, cell fragments and an aqueous solution (plasma). Blood makes up about 8% of the human body weight. Types of blood.
A blood type (also called a
blood group) is a classification of blood based on the presence and absence of antibodies and also based on the presence or absence of inherited antigenic substances on the surface of red blood cells (RBCs).
