entering text, numbers, and formulas
Enter Basic Data in a Worksheet
Move to cell D1, type Test 3 (/10) and Enter, then enter the numbers 10,
6, 5, 8, 6, 7, 5 from D2-D7 respectively.
Move to cell E1, type Exam (/100) and press Enter, then enter the
numbers 70, 66, 54, 75, 80, 85, 50 from E2-E7 respectively.
Move to cell F1, type Total (/140) and press Tab. Notice that the active
cell moves to the next column, to cell G1.
In cell G1, type Percentage (/100).
Change the
column width
Move the mouse pointer
between columns A and B,
to the column markers at
the top of the worksheet.
The mouse pointer changes
to a double-headed arrow.
Double-click the column
marker between A and B.
The width of the column
changes to the widest entry
in column A.
Drag the double-headed
arrow mouse pointer to
width that match the
longest text.
Using the Sum
function
Enter the formula
below into cell F2
=SUM(B2:E2) OR
=B2+C2+D2+E2
You can also achieve
that by clicking the
AutoSum command on
the home Tab in the
Editing group and it will
automatically sum the
total score.
Calculating the percentage
After entering the formula, press enter and adjust it two significant
figures.
Filling a series with Auto Fill
Click cell F2, point to the fill handle, and drag it to F8. Likewise, cell
G2:G8
