Using the Enter Key

The Insertion Point vs. I-Beam

To save a document, choose Save or Save
As from the File Menu

First time you save a document:

you will see the Save As dialog box
After you save a document:
Use Save to save with the same filename
Use Save As to save the document with a
different filename or to a different location

Saving a Document with a Different
Name in a New Folder
To save a document with a different name or
in a new folder:
Use the Save As dialog box
To rename a file or a folder:
Select the file or folder, then either
Right click on the selected file or folder or
Press the F2 key
Type in the new name

RAM vs. Disk Space
RAM is the thinking capacity of a
computer

Disk Space is the storage capacity

To run a program
It must be in RAM

Closing a Document and Exiting Word

Close or Exit command


Word displays a dialog box if files have been
modified since they were last saved
Closing a file removes it from the screen
and from RAM
Exit Word to close program
