Aim and Objectives:-

The Objective of the project is to design and to

generate the power from the water resource by
using the Pelton wheel apparatus

In this project, considerable amount of power is

produced without any fuel consumption
Abstract:-
The objective of this project was to design, fabricate and
experimentally investigate the working of hydro powered
generator using the pelton wheel setup. This generator is
constructed by using a single phase induction motor and a
pelton wheel which uses the force of the water to
electricity. The steel shaft is attached to the container and
the pelton wheel is connected to it. The openings are made
such that the water enters into the container thereby the
pelton wheel rotates. The single phase induction motor and
the magnetic hub form a unit which is attached through the
shaft on the other side. So as the water enters the
container the pelton wheel rotates thus the power is
generated. This is a portable one and does not make use
any fuel and eco-friendly. This generator produces
considerable amount of power.

Problem
Identification:-
In earlier method, fuel consumption is
required to produce the power which may
pollute the atmosphere
The existing hydro-power production
methods are not so efficient
The existing hydro-power plants are large
in size
These include harm to fish populations, a
loss of aquatic habitat, a significant change
in natural flow regimes, and deterioration
of the landscape.
Procurement:-

1. Single phase induction motor

2. Steel shaft
3. Pelton wheel
4. Coupling
5. Rectifier
6. Fixture
Experimental
Process:-
The steel shaft is attached to the container and the
pelton wheel is connected to it.
The openings are made such that the water enters into
the container thereby the pelton wheel rotates and the
water drains out.
The single phase induction motor and the magnetic hub
form a unit which is attached through the shaft on the
other side.
As the water enters into container due to the force of the
water the pelton wheel rotates thus the shaft rotates
thereby the induction coil also rotates.
This induction coil has number of copper windings. Due
to the presence of the magnetic hub the electromagnetic
force is induced in the coil thus the current is produced.
Project explanation:-
The working principle of the hydro-powered generator is very
simple and easily understood by everyone.
The steel shaft is attached to the container and the pelton
wheel is connected to it.
The openings are made such that the water enters into the
container thereby the pelton wheel rotates and the water drains
out.
The single phase induction motor and the magnetic hub form
a unit which is attached through the shaft on the other side.
As the water enters into container due to the force of the water
the pelton wheel rotates thus the shaft rotates thereby the
induction coil also rotates.
This induction coil has number of copper windings. Due to the
presence of the magnetic hub the electromagnetic force is
induced in the coil thus the current is produced.
Project Layout:-
1. Single Phase Induction
Motor

An induction motor
works on transforming
action.

The stator works as the

primary while the rotor
works as the secondary.

It is also called
asynchronous motor.
It consists of two parts:

a) stator-stationary part b) rotor- rotating part of

of motor motor
2. Steel shaft

The shaft is a rotating machine

element.
It is used to transmit power from
one part to another.
The various members such as
pulley and gears are mounted on it.
PELTON WHEEL

The Pelton wheel is an

impulse turbine.
A Pelton's rotor
consists of a single wheel
mounted on a horizontal
axle.
The wheel has cup-shaped
buckets around its
perimeter.
Force of these high-speed
jets of water against the
buckets turns the wheel.

Results &
Discussion:-
The principle of mechanical
engineering plays a major role in all
fields.
Under these mechanical engineering
mechanisms, the mechanical energy is
converted to electrical energy.
The idea has been applied and the
design is theoretically proved.
