In what ways does your media product use, develop or
challenge forms and conventions of real media
products?
My media product is suited to fit into the documentary
genre, as I decided in the early stages of the planning for
production that I wanted to a short film that either
conforms or challenges the common conventions of a
documentary product. I also wanted to stay away from
the thriller genre as I had already created a title
sequence for my AS coursework last year therefore I was
able to test another genre for my A2 product. While
researching the common conventions I found the sub-
genres of documentaries to which I chose to conform to
the poetic style as one of the conventions for the poetic
documentary is the subjective view given by the creator
of the product. I have felt strongly about the injustice of
the black race in their history as well as to this day. The
recent attacks and police brutality against the black race
influenced me to base my A2 media product on it to raise
awareness of the fatal lives lost due to police shootings. I
did more research into this in my planning stage before
production to find facts to include that are relevant in
revealing these events to my audience, one of the main
influences of my documentary is The 13th by Ava
DuVernay. The first scene is real footage of the protest in
Selma, Alabama in 1965. I used this clip to start with
because of the impact this event had on the black race
history as people can see the unnecessary brutality by

Sound

Another convention of a poetic documentary is the audio used.

The audio is typically used in this genre to enhance the tone of
the product. I have used the speech I Have a Dream by Dr
Martin Luther King as a sound bridge throughout the film. Which
I had to receive permission from the Kings Estate (Owners) to
use the audio as well as some footage, fortunately I was granted
permission. I have also recorded my own audio, I recorded my
actor Mark reading parts of the speech to which I decided to
include where King says But one hundred years later as I feel
its fitting to parallel Mark speaking when the speech is referring
to their future. The tone of my film is poignant and gratuitous
towards the history that the black race have endured as well as
the on going injustice that is faced to this day, the audio I have
used is intended to emphasise this notion. I have also included a
royalty free typewriter tap sound to correspond to the the text
font as well as the idea that this is all being documented. This
sound is used every time a fact or date appears to which
enhances the visual of the fact as the audience is more alert to
what is being shown. Therefore I have followed the common
convention in the poetic sub genre of documentaries. Originally I
wanted to include piano audio, however due to limited time and
a change of mind I decided to challenge the convention of non
diegetic sound; instrumental audio, as without it the speechs
significance is increased as the audience would be listening to
only Martin Luther King and the visuals parallel.

Narrative

In a typical poetic documentary, there is no narrative structure as it

isnt usually in a chronological order of events therefore the scenes
included are edited together to create a more visual narrative.
However I was advised from audience feedback to include some
narrative so that theyre arent completely lost. In the early stages of
my planning I didnt plan a narrative structure to which I regret as I
could of produced a better, clear idea of Mark as a man in this
society. However, by revealing limited information about Mark gives
the audience a chance to think for themselves of who they think he
is and why I have chosen to only include him as the main
protagonist in the short film Therefore I am conforming to the
common convention of an open narrative in which my audience is
allowed to interpret the film in any way. In some ways I have listened
to the advise from my target audience by including a scene where
Mark is on his laptop to connote the idea that he works just like
anyone else in society. I have challenged the common conventions of
the documentary genre itself as well as the view people have of
them. I have done this by excluding any interviews or witnesses that
would be used to back up the message of the film. I chose very early
on to do this as I wanted to focus more on the cinematography and
let the visual produce the message that I intended to be conveyed . I
have also followed Claude Levi Strauss Binary Opposition theory as I
have contrasted the black race to the white race privileges, as well
as the controversial opposition of police officers and victims of the
black race.

Camera

Before filming I discovered a Danish film director; Lars Von Trier. In which I
found a clip from his film Melancholia (2011), I was inspired by the hand held
camera effect that he used to control the scenes in his own way as they
seemed more realistic. I decided to use my camera hand held to see the effect
I resulted with, in which I emphasised to connote the feelings that Mark is
experiencing; fear. I have mainly used the shaky camera in the actor scenes in
the middle of the film, where we see the extreme close ups of Mark to portray
a personal level of who Mark is without telling the audience directly. I have
also used the hand held camera in some scenes in London. This is to portray
the journey black people have endured, as I have included a shot of a moving
train which connotes the time passing and then the following shots are a
mixture of shaky and still camera which is reflecting our society now. I wanted
to subconsciously give the audience a chance to decide if anything has
changes or has is just developed. After 6 drafts of my film that included small
improvements, I received feedback to cut down copyrighted footage and film
more of my own scenes to which I did as I planned the spray painting scene to
simply connote what life was like in the 1960s.I also planned the print outs of
the accomplishments that the black race have achieved over the years which
is contrasting the police brutality later on in the production as articles
expressing police brutality are included. Within these scenes I have thought
about the mise-en-scene as in the spray painting scene I wanted the shot to
focus on what the person is writing on the board. I told the spray painter; who
is a art student, to wear trainers and dark clothes, this is so that they scene
feels like a protester making a sign however is writing a law from the 1900s
therefore presenting the question of Has anything changed?. In the mid shot
of Mark at his laptop doing work, his surroundings is his real workspace to
make the scene more personal and realistic. Theres two microphones and
keyboard around him to imply to the audience that he is a music teacher.
Theres also a black box that has Black Label writing on it which could be
taken into context and is a label that Mark has which is resulting in fear in
what could happen to him or any other black person.

Camera

At the start of my researching stage of production I discovered Cristina Molino and Cary
Fukunaga (Directors) to which I found that they focus on the cinematography within their
media products. After watching their products I was influenced to take more care in what
camera angles and focus I use within my film. I have used a lot of mid shots, high angles,
birds-eye view angles, close-ups, extreme close ups all to convey a personal and real view of
Mark as well as the history of the black race. As well as the real footage of the Selma,
Alabama march, I have included a black lives matter protest in North Carolina (2016) in
which I paid for on shutter-stock. I wanted to include at least two scenes of real protest
footage to portray the difference between the 1960s and the present day. I also found
suitable footage of flashing lights that resemble police lights that leads the audience to think
that something bad has happened. However I wanted to leave the verdict of who is the
victim to the audience. Throughout my research on short films and documentaries I
discovered Dominic Tangs short poetic documentary Plague to which influenced me to
create a poetic style documentary on the black race as the film itself is artistic and makes
the audience ask questions without any text or explanation except the visual production with
camera work and editing. In my spare time I began watching a new television series Peaky
Blinders to which also has a well planned cinematographic tone and visual. I was inspired by
the chiaroscuro lighting as shadows were created and the contrast between light and dark
are emphasised. I used this throughout the film with either natural lighting or a spotlight.

Typography and Dialogue

The typography throughout my film is the same apart from the title as
its hand written whereas the text in premiere pro and in photo-shop is a
preset. I initially found text on DaFont Tox Typewriter which I really
liked and felt suited the tone of my film well as it represents a historic
period as the font is quite old. However as I downloaded, I had technical
difficulties transferring it to the mac I was working on. Therefore Ive
used Lucida Sans Typewriter instead which is similar in fonts and still
works well. Ive used this font in my poster as well however not in the
film review. This is because in the film review a magazine company
would be writing it therefore using their own fonts for the review text. As
Ive used the speech as the only audio, I intended to correspond the
scenes that are parallel to the audio. The speech starts off with Five
score years ago to which I have placed the first protest march which is
in the past. The speech then goes onto 100 years later where I have
matched up the spray painting scene as I want the audience to start
thinking about the differences between then and now. The scenes of the
accomplishments of the black race are parallel to the speech dialogue
when will you be satisfied this is again reinforcing the question of is
anything ever going to change. I have also included facts about
segregation and police brutality/imprisonment. In which I have accepted
the common convention of a documentary as facts and figures are
typically used to back up the message in the story. I have included
quotes from famous people such as Oprah Winfrey and Beyonce to
convey the thought and feelings that are around in this society to
correlate to the negative stories that we face in the media, I have kept
the colour of the text white so that itstill remains bold to the viewer
which I intended to impact the way they perceive the film. The ending
text is the main focus of my film as it leaves the audience with an open
narrative to which is has anything changed in society to determine
whether his (Mark) life has the same value as everyone else.

Editing

The editing stage of post production was important for the film as it completes the final look. I decided
early on that my film would be in black and white to which I changed for the flashing lights as that
remains in colour to represent the police. As before I did my research I created a film noir clip with two
other students, this inspired me to continue with the contrast for shadows; the actors scenes. Another
though process I had behind the black and white effect is a reflection of both the black race and the
white race. The text that I included are opposite in colour to the background colour so that its easy to
read as well as bold. I had to make sure that the text was on screen for as long as possible so that the
audience could read it however I found this difficult as most of the fact/figures are between scenes there
wasnt a lot of time to spare. I also did not want to have the text up too long otherwise the audience
could get bored or loose interest. Another thing I found difficult while editing is cutting down the speech
for the sound bridge as the speech is 16 minutes long therefore I had to cut a lot of it out. Before my
planning stage I did listen to the speech in order to know what parts I wanted to keep. I have a total of 7
drafts (including the final edit) in which I did not realize how much copy righted footage I had until the
6th draft feedback from my teacher. Therefore I made sure I spent time editing and re shooting for the
final edit. I have learned new skills on after effects and premiere pro, skills such as how to slow down
footage (spray painting scene) therefore I can say that I have improved my editing skills from the
beginning of the year. I was able to improve my editing skills from tutorials and step by step instructions
on how to use adobe premiere pro and after effects.

Poster

My initial response to making a poster for my film

and for the topic I have chosen was to make it
simple but effective in getting a clear point across.
The purpose of a poster is to intrigue and tease the
audience for the final product being the short film in
this case. The inspiration for my films poster is a
poster for the film Selma by Ava DuVernay. The
similar aspect being the main protagonist being the
focal point of the poster and the background
representing the message of the film. In the Selma
poster, the background includes a line of armed
police which reflects the events that happened in
1965 Selma, Alabama. My poster has a background
of a crowd to which is a picture I took myself, which
reflects the idea of a protest that is included in the
film. I have developed from the Selma poster as I
have changed the positioning of the protagonist to
which he is facing the audience and breaking the
fourth wall. The poster reveals the tone of the film
through the use of the title of the film on the sign
hes holding. I Cant Breathe is an infamous
sentence that a victim of police brutality Eric Garner
kept repeating before he was murdered by two
police officers.

Review

After doing research on different film reviews in magazines, I decided to take note of
what appears in the majority of the reviews; star rating, director, duration of film, the
certificate age of film and the plot of the film. The magazine review that influenced me
the most is The Impossible in the In Cinemas review, the layout. I have developed the
layout and over all look of the review by including four images; two larger ones and
two smaller sized images instead of one to give the viewer a better insight of what is in
the film however not spoiling it. I have also limited the amount of review text to one
side of the review and the other information about the film of the other side.

Poster Development
How effective is the combination of your main and
ancillary texts?

Development of Poster

The development of my poster indicates the clear idea that I had from the start
to which I feel helped me in creating a clear poster early on so that I had more
time to improve it. The initial idea I had at first was to have the protagonist look
separate from a crowded background and holding a huge sign with the title on
it. The crowd would be in black and white whereas to make the actor/actress
stand out, theyd be in colour to connote the idea that he/she is out of place in a
black and white world or society. However as I took images of my actor and
found photos I had taken on a trip for the background I found that the poster
looked more professional all black and white. But to stick with the idea of
separating the actor from the background I added a grainy effect the the image
of the actor so that it reflected that he seems to still be living in the old world
view of black people as the recent attacks on the black race support this. The
text on the poster has also developed as the text font has changed in the film,
as I hadnt finished the film before finishing the ancillary text I found that I kept
having to adjust the poster so that it would link together and help the audience
recognise the film. Since a posters purpose is to promote the film and convey a
memorable look for the viewer. I also included the question that is given to the
viewers at the end of my film on the top of the poster to act as the slugline for
the film The value of his life?. I felt that this kept the same tone as the film for
the poster, instead of giving a unprofessional cheesy line that would ruin the
overall message to the viewer.

Review Development
How effective is the combination of your main and
ancillary texts?

Development of Review

My magazine review development indicates the changes I had faced

throughout the process of creating the review. To begin with I did not have
any set view in mind of the review. However I started by choosing an image
of the first shot from the scene of London, to which was the only thing I was
sure on having as well as the black background as I feel that it looks more
professional and fits the tone of my film. Although as the process of
producing the film review continued I realised that I shouldnt be making
the review have the same look as my short film and poster as the media
text isnt typically associated together. A film review has a purpose of
commenting on the film giving an opinion of it whether its bias or critical. I
wanted the text of the review to be neutral on commenting on the director
as well as the film. The layout of the review changed in the last couple of
drafts (including the final edit) from being out of sync and back to front to a
linear layout to look more like a double page in a magazine. I also included
page numbers to reinforce this look. The other three images I chose to
include are from the film as well so that it shows the readers of what to
expect without ruining the whole film as theyre subtle in the way theyre
laid out on the page. The main aspect being the protest real footage are
the smaller image, and the actor is revealed in the second bigger image.
How effective is the combination of your main and
ancillary texts?

Link between Main Task and Ancillary Texts.

The link between all my products are kept very similar, especially
the short film and the poster for the film. This is because theyre
directly linked together in order to promote the short film, therefore
the colour scheme is the same; black and white. I have included the
main protagonist; Mark, in the poster as the main focus so that the
audience is aware that. Another similarity is the statement at the
end of the short film is also presented on the poster at the top left
corner so that its easy to spot for the viewer. The review however, I
have tried to change to convey the idea that its a magazine review
which is separate from the film. Ive done this by including the
colour red and yellow which are the two colours typically seen
throughout my research of magazine reviews. Although I did include
red in the poster so that the text could be seen over the
background. Throughout my research I was critical of the synergy
between real media texts, to which I decided to keep all my text
white throughout the short film, poster and review so that I remain
synergy between them, therefore the viewers can easily recognise
that theyre all linked.

What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

Questionnaire 1

1-4

What is your gender? I included this question as its helps to understand who is your target
audience. To which my results show that more I have more of a female audience 65% and
35% male. Therefore knowing this I knew that the film would be more attentive to the tone of
the film therefore being more emotional.

How old are you? This question also helped me understand who my target audience is as I
could either relate to them through the film. I found that 72% of my target audience are
ranging from ages 13 to 19 which I expecting as young adults seem to be more interested in
documentaries.

Have you ever seen a documentary? I asked this so that I could see how many people do
actually watch documentaries to which I was surprise to find that 83/100 people said yes. This
helped me build up knowledge of what people may expect from this genre as I also asked
them to state which ones theyve seen. The most common answers were Planet Earth and
Blackfish which both documentaries address issues that people dont really know about

What do you think makes a successful documentary? This question is to gather information
and opinions on what my audience feel makes a documentary worth watching. The majority
of the answer included a good narrative and real life events. I conformed to the feedback to
use real footage in my film, however since I decided to go towards the poetic style instead I
didnt develop a full narrative for the actor.
What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

Questionnaire 1

5-8

Would you rather see real footage of the related event or a reconstruction in a documentary?
Relating to the other question as the feedback already confirmed the answer to this question,
however I feel that its important to know how many people said reconstruction, 10%

What audio would you expect to hear in a documentary? I asked this question as I was unsure of
what audio to use in the film. The results I received were somewhat helpful however I feel that
people dont really acknowledge audio therefore they cant decide on what audio they think is
effective hence why 10 people skipped this question and some answers were I dont know. The
majority of the answers were sound bridges or voice-overs which implies that they have
watched the typical type of documentaries that include a narrator or interviews.

Do you expect to see an interview with witnesses etc. in a documentary? I asked this this question
to see peoples opinions as I myself was opposed to include witnesses or interview as I wanted to
challenge the generic convention in documentaries. The majority said that it depends on the
topic (59%), to which the following answer was yes (38%) which means that I neglected the
popular view of including witnesses although I have chosen a different style documentary.

Would you expect to see facts and figures to inform you of the events included in the
documentary? I asked this question to see whether I should comprise facts and figures to support
my message in the film to which the results showed 74/100 people said yes. From this I have
found that my audience want to be informed with facts to support their interpretations of the film.
What have you learnt from your audience feedback?
Questionnaire 2

1-4

How old are you? Like the other questionnaire I wanted to find out who the majority of my audience
(answering) are before analysing the other questions. Again the age ranges between 13-19 year olds
with 60%.

Whats your opinion of the recent loss of black lives seen from the media? I included this question to
understand the different opinions of the recent events. The majority of the answers were that the
police brutality is unjustified and that its sad or upsetting to see innocent black men and women
being killed or treated like criminals. I myself agree with the comments that its tragic therefore my
idea is be effective as similar opinions are parallel to mine which is portrayed through the film.

How much do you know about the black cultures history? I feel that this questions was one of the
most important as 54% of the people answered only a few things whether thats from history class
or the media. I wasnt shocked to see that I know a lot was only 19% as society is quite uneducated
when it comes to the history of the black race or any other race in that instant. A lot of people believe
this is due to government control or media control through white privilege.

If a documentary is based on this topic, would you expect real footage or a reconstruction? I asked
this question in this questionnaire as some people said that whether I should include real footage or a
reconstruction depends of the topic therefore I found it suitable to include this and see the results.
To which I wasnt surprised 57% said real footage. However a minority of people said both. I have
learned that my audience would rather see real footage as it makes the film more reliable and
trustworthy in the message being shown to them therefore its easier to accept if they see the true
event with their own eyes.
What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

Questionnaire 2

5-8

Would you expect to see a male or female character represent this topic? This question was included to
help me decide whether to have an actor or actress. The majority of the results said both with the
reasoning of balancing genders and the idea that both sexs are affected which I was expecting.
However due to the struggle I faced trying to find actors/actresses, I decided to go against what is
expected. I feel that by doing this I have enhanced the sensitive stages that are tested in the film.

How old would you expect the actor/actress to be? This question was to help me in my search for an
actor. My target audience responded with the age group of 20-26 and over with the reasons being similar
to theyre more aware of past events therefore itll be more personal and effective. I followed this as my
actor is over the age of 20 , to which I have found that it is more personal as Mark has a career like
anyone else his age therefore he isnt any different.

Do you believe that the protest such as Black Lives Matter are making a difference? I included this
question to see whether people believe that these movements and protests are actually making a
difference to which the popular answer was in some ways (60%) as theyre raising awareness however
these incidences still happen therefore is anything changing? Some said that theyre making a small
difference by bringing people together. I included a clip of a protest carried out by the Black Lives Matter
movement at the end of my film to leave the viewer with this same question.

Have you ever seen a documentary on the black culture? I ended the questionnaire with this question to
see how many people have seen a documentary on or including the people of the black race. The results
showed that 65% said no. I found the documentary The 13 th through the responses on this question as
some people answered yes and listed the documentary it was. I learned more about the black race
through this documentary to which I have tried to convey in my film.
What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

First Draft Feedback

After having finished my first draft in

December, I wanted to know how I
can improve my idea as well as the
films editing therefore I asked people
to watch the draft to which they gave
me feedback

The feedback I received helped me in

some ways as I was able to make the
changes that I already wanted to
make. I was happy with the responses
I received as they confirmed my ideas
on how to improve my film. If I were
to change this, I would of asked more
people so that I received a wider
range of opinions on how to improve. I
think that this would of helped me
improve with more time.
What have you learnt from your audience feedback?
Sixth Draft Feedback

I wanted to create a questionnaire on survey monkey to ask

my other media peers to give me improvements and
feedback on my sixth draft as I was nearing the end of the
editing stage therefore I wanted to know if the film was at
standard I was aiming to meet.

The feedback was very critical which is good as I know how

and where in the film needs the most work. Although I had
technical issues I feel that I have tried to meet amend the
critiques I received. The responses to the first question were
similar in the way that they understood that I was portraying
the black race however not all of them understood that I
was trying to get them to ask the question of is his life
valued. Therefore I decided to add more text to prompt
these thoughts in the viewers mind The second question
was the most important as its directly asking what I could
improve without me giving direct suggestions for answers.
The majority of the responses were on the speech and the
footage of Martin Luther King to which they suggested to cut
the footage down as well as the audio. However the point of
my film was to have the speech running through the whole
film as a sound bridge. Although I received this response I
felt that If I cut down the speech then It would not make
sense to keep the speech in the film as its a big part of it.
However I did decide to cut down the footage as I was using
too much copyrighted footage.
What have you learnt from your audience feedback?
Sixth Draft Feedback

The third question I asked was to confirm that

the audio was the right audio to use. 100% said
yes therefore I think that its clear that I made
the right decision to keep the speech in the
film. I also feel that everyone knows the speech
from history therefore its effective in reminding
the audience of the change in history that was
due to Martin Luther Kings involvement.

The fourth question is to see the audiences

opinion of the scenes and how they link to my
topic. I feel that the style of documentary isnt
very popular to my target audience therefore
they dont understand the idea of a scene
having a metaphoric purpose. For example the
train shot in the London scenes, is a metaphor
for moving time. I know that its not clear but
however without telling the viewer directly what
everything means, questions are raised to
which makes a poetic documentary.
What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

Sixth Draft Feedback

The fifth and final question I asked was to see

whether including more facts would be too
overwhelming or is a good idea to inform
them.

The response I received were mixed as some

said that it would overwhelm the viewer as
the speech is in the background. However
others said that it would make it more
interesting although others said it doesnt
matter or that they would like answers too. I
decided to add more statements as well as a
simple fact and questions so that its not too
much information but still raises questions
from the statements such as segregation or
whos next?

How did you use new media technologies in the
construction and research, planning and evaluation
stages?

Research

Digital media technology controlled the production of my short

documentary film as I have used a lot of it in order to get from
my initial idea to a short film on screen. This is clear in the
researching stage of production for the film. I used the web 2.0
numerous of times, such as social media as the Black Lives
Matter movement have created accounts on Instagram,
Facebook, Twitter etc. in order to express and plan protests. I
also got research from news media platforms such as
newspapers, online websites/ links that informed the loss of
black innocent lives around the world due to police brutality. In
order to gain a better understanding of short films and decide
on a genre for my film I analysed existing film posters and film
reviews as well as any other real media products that I came
across from YouTube, IMDb or Google images, I also found the
best way to research was to actually watch the films and
analyse that way. I was able to document all this research on
my blog on BlogSpot through the use of the apple mac that I
used to do research on. The pre set apps on the mac such as
power-point helped me to create slides that included the
research I had done and laid it out clearly so that I could reflect
and come up with ideas. I found that YouTube became my most
reliable source to go to for new information or new ideas as the
content on YouTube has grown widely.
How did you use new media technologies in the
construction and research, planning and evaluation
stages?

Planning

New media technologies such as softwares like Microsoft

Power-point, Microsoft Word, Adobe Premiere Pro have
all helped me to create documents to plan out my film.
In order to create a shot list, script, animatic etc. I
needed to be able to layout it out in a document so that
I can refer to it when if I need to before and during the
filming stage of production. I used Google to get images
of locations in London so that I could plan where I was
going to film. To which I also used my iPhone to take pre
images of both the locations and the actor himself. I
have also used my email a lot to communicate to my
teachers for ideas as well as to ask The Kings Estate for
permission to use the copyrighted speech I Have a
Dream by Martin Luther King. I was able to receive
permission that is granted by them directly. I also used
my email to ask my local police station as well as
shutter stock however did not receive reply. I feel that I
could of created a stronger final product as I was on
limited time to come up with new ideas to which I was
helped through the use of YouTube again.
How did you use new media technologies in the
construction and research, planning and evaluation
stages?

Filming

In order to for the filming stage of the production of

my short film to go well, I used my Nikon camera to
get clear shots that I was aiming for. I also made
sure to charge the battery before the filming day so
that I had no issues with that. However after having
done the sixth draft, I had to shoot more shots for
the film however the cameras sim card corrupted
therefore I lost the new scenes. I had to reshoot
using my I phone which didnt have the same
quality but it wasnt too bad therefore I was happy
to use it. I also used a tripod whilst filming some
shots in London so that I received the still shots that
I wanted to connote the journey of the black race. To
record the audio of Mark speaking I used the camera
however didnt pay attention to the visuals as I
would later unlink and delete the footage but keep
the audio.
How did you use new media technologies in the
construction and research, planning and evaluation
stages?

Editing

The editing stage of the production process is the most

significant as I used the new media technologies to finalise
and complete my film successfully. In order to finish the
edit of each shot (change colour and adjust contrast) I used
Adobe After Effects CS6 on an apple mac. Whereas these
shot would be imported into Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 as I
then cut down the audio and laid out each shot in the right
place. I also created the text shots on Premiere so that the
text font size etc. would be the same throughout. I
developed my knowledge of how to use these softwares
through YouTube tutorials and step by step instructions on
Google. In order to create the ancillary texts I used Adobe
Photoshop CS6 to which I found the easiest to use due to
doing a level Art therefore I already had experience using it.
Throughout the whole editing process I needed to transfer
the drafts to another computer to upload to YouTube
therefore I used a memory stick to which was very helpful
in importing clips and images to my blog as well .
