INTRODUCTION :
Concrete is widely recognized as a cost-effective, versatile construction
material.
Fiber reinforced concrete is a concrete mix that contains short discrete fibers
that are uniformly distributed and randomly oriented.
It has been recognized that the addition of small, closely spaced fibers to
concrete would act as crack arrestors and would substantially improve its static
and dynamic properties.
Different type of fibers are steel fibers, glass fibers, sisal fibers, recron fibers
etc., are their.

3
POLYPROPYLENE (RECRON 3S) FIBERS:

Reliance Industry Limited (RIL) has launched Recron 3s fibres with the objective of
improving the quality of plaster and concrete.
Controls cracking
Reduction in water permeability
Reduction in rebound loss
Increase in flexibility
Applications
Recron 3s fibres can be used in concrete elements such as RC and PC lintel,
beam, column, flooring and wall plastering; foundations, tanks, manhole
cover and tiles; plastering; roads and pavements; hollow blocks and precast.

4
OBJECTIVE OF THE WORK :

The main purpose of this study to investigate the influence of additives flyash and
recron3s (fiber) in concrete and then testing in SEM.
The strength characteristics of the concrete M40 are used with varying percentage
of additives and changes in strength, gain in strength and workability parameters
were studied.
In the present work, an effort is made to use new additives as the ingredients of
concrete and study the effects on M40 grade concrete.

LITERATURE REVIEW:
1. T.SANDEEP. (April 2015)
In this work an attempt is made to investigate the use of these additives
(recron 3s fibers and flyash) on the compressive strength of cement concrete.
The experimental study of this investigation consists of design of concrete
mixes (M30 and M35) for two different characteristic mean strengths.
The mix was worked out giving certain proportions by keeping the obtained
water- cement ratio constant. These two mixes were obtained with water-
cement ratio as 0.40.
For each of the above mix, Different percentages of additive (fly ash) was
replaced, that is 20%, 25% and 30% by weight of cement by keeping the
second additive (Recron-3s) as 0.25% by weight of cement.

6
The 28 days in respect of both grades of concrete is attaining maximum value
at 25-30% of flyash replacement.
There is an increase of 12% in compressive strength with addition of flyash
when compared plane concrete.
There appears to be greatest increase in 7 days strength with usage of flyash
when compared to 28 days strength.
Nearly 25% more strength is reported to have been secured at 7 days with
25% replacement of flyash this has an advantage in terms of early deshuttering
and when the base of construction is expected to be very high.

2. Dr. M.DEVI ( March 2014)
The objective of this work is to study the influence of polypropylene fibre in
enhancing the strength and durability properties of fly ash blended concrete
containing quarry dust as fine aggregate.
The mechanical properties studied were compressive strength, split tensile
strength, and flexural strength in addition to water absorption.
The resistance to corrosion was evaluated by means of impressed voltage
technique in saline medium, rapid chloride penetration test (RCPT) and
weight loss method.
From the results it has been arrived that fly ash blended quarry dust concrete
along with polypropylene fibre can be effectively and economically utilized
in the construction industry.

METHODOLOGY :

In the present study an experimental investigation will be carried out to know the
rheological properties of concrete with different variables such as water cement
ratio, replacement of cement with different percentage of fly ash, fiber content
( RECRON 3S).
Recron-3s is used to the mix design with different percentages of additive (fly
ash) and then its effects are observed in improving the compressive strength as
well as split tensile strength of concrete
The mix was obtained with water-cement ratio as 0.40. For mix different
percentages of additive (fly ash) was replaced, that is 0%, 20%, 30% and 40% by
weight of cement and simultaneously the second additive (Recron-3s) was varied
in different percentages that is 0%, 0.25%, 0.5%, 0.75% and 1% by weight of
cement.
Cubes of 150*150*150mm and cylinders of 150mm dia and 300mm length are
used.
