Magnetic levitation, maglev, ormagnetic suspensionis a method by which an
object issuspendedwith no support other thanmagnetic field .Magnetic
forceis used to counteract the effects of thegravitational accelerationand
any other accelerations.
Magnetic levitation has been around for years, but with advances in
technology it may become a part of everyday life. The main emphasis for
magnetic levitation is for transportation.
Magnetism is a phenomenon that occurs when a moving charge exerts a
force on other moving charges. The magnetic force caused by this moving
charge sets up a field which in turn exerts a moving force on other moving
charges. The magnetic field is found to be perpendicular to the velocity of
the current.
Magnetic materials and systems are able to attract or press each other apart
or together with a force dependent on the magnetic field and the area of the
magnets. For example, the simplest example of lift would be a simpledipole
magnetpositioned in the magnetic fields of another dipole magnet, oriented
with like poles facing each other, so that theforce between magnetsrepels
the two magnets.[1]
For successful levitation and control of all 6 axes (degrees of freedom; 3
translational and 3 rotational) a combination of permanent magnets and

To levitate a plastic ring in which magnets are embedded between two strong
electromagnets.
Insure that the magnets embedded in the ring are of opposite polarity.
Wind a copper winding wire of 8 meters of 20 s gauge around an iron tape
holder(prepare 2 quantity.)
Connect the electromagnet to battery of 9 volt or more.
If one moves a base made of a very good electrical conductor such
ascopper, aluminiumorsilverclose to a magnet, an (eddy) current will be
induced in the conductor that will oppose the changes in the field and create
an opposite field that will repel the magnet (Lenz's law).
At a sufficiently high rate of movement, a suspended magnet will levitate on
the other electro magnet or vice versa.Litz wiremade of wire thinner than
theskin depthfor the frequencies seen by the metal works much more
efficiently than solid conductors.
To calculate the amount of lift, amagnetic pressurecan be defined. =

Can our dreams be true in future?

Floating Cities: The Magnetic Levitation Technology has been taken to consideration in order to create cities at
a level far above the earth. This thinking has been initiated due to decreasing availability of ground on earth.
This was proposed by a Chinese architect named Wei Zhao in Skyscraper Competition in e Volos 2012.
The ground atmosphere of these planets may not be suitable for life to persist. But the atmosphere above the
ground may have enough potential for life to survive.
Magnetic levitation (maglev) can create frictionless, efficient, far-out-sounding technologies. Here are some of the craziest uses that engineers and designers have dreamed up.

Fastest train ever which could travel up to 603 km/h as discovered.

It is less costlier than normal trains and bullet train because of its efficiency.

In the meantime, if anyone would like to toy with magnetic levitation there is a
product calledlevitronwhich will allow you to float an item weighing upto 13 ounces
in mid-air.
Space Launch System : For years, NASA has been researching the
possibility of using the high speeds
of maglev transportation to fling
spacecraft into low
Earth orbit.
Efficient Wind
Power:
Standard wind turbines
convert only 1 percent of
wind energy into usable
power, and part of that
glaring inefficiency stems
from the loss of energy
due to friction as the
turbine spins
Researchers at the
Guangzhou Energy
Research Institute have
estimated that
magnetically levitated
turbines could boost wind
energy generation by as
much as 20 percent over
traditional turbines.

2016. It is the world's second commercially operating unmanned urban maglev line
after Japan'sLinimo.
Shanghai Maglev train in China was available for transport from the year 2004.
Recently Japan's SC maglev train recorded 603 km/h as its highest speed.
Our prime minister Narendra Modi proposed Diamond Quadrangle Project which plans
to connect the four major cities, i.e.,Mumbai, Delhi,Kolkataand Chennai, with high-
speed bullet trains. The first bullet train project is set to start in Gujarat, the home
state of the Prime Minister.
First Maglev train is expected to connect Mumbai and Pune which will reduce time to
30minutes between the 2 cities.
As compared to other countries like Japan And China, India lacks far behind.
Think if u can?

1) A place where humans could levitate?

2) Who proposed the plan of floating city?
3) What is the name of fastest upcoming train in India and where?
4) Where was floating lamp made?
5) For a successful levitation how many axis needed to control?
6) Which property of magnet repels the material in magnetic field?
7) Name the Object which work on levitation principle?
