R & D ON READYMADE GARMENT SECTOR
Research and development in apparel industry is
ongoing process. Every now and then, we encounter
new developments, innovations, improvements in
existing processes, which are in terms of fabric, style,
stitching details, patterns, prints and their designs, but
cycle of fashion keeps on revolving and always
repeats after certain period.
NEW INNOVATIVE IDEA
FINISHING :
It is the process of giving certain treatment to the gray fabric
in order to increase the esthetic feel of fabric and imparting
desirable characteristic and enhancing physical appearance.
TYPES OF FINISHING:
CHEMICAL FINISHING : In this process fabric is
treated with chemical in order to increase aesthetic feel e.g.
wrinkle resistance, flame proof etc
MECHANICAL FINISHING : In this process fabric is
finished with help of some mechanical means e.g. embossing
,calendaring, sue ding etc
CHEMICAL PLUS MECHANICAL FINISHING : In this
process fabric is finished with help of both chemical and
mechanical means e.g. wet calendaring, sanforising etc
FINISHING OF COTTON :
Cotton is natural cellulosic fiber which have 70-75%
crystalline region due to which it has considerably high
strength and other essential properties. Being natural cellulosic
fiber it is readily attacked by fungus and other microorganism
and has low crease resistance power so in order to increase the
life of cotton fabric and to make it more comfortable to wear
cotton finishing is carried out. Finishing of cotton can also be
done in order to impart certain desirable properties.
For garment manufacturing company HR can do

Identification of people requirement i.e. why & how much to be required

,because in textile every process requires different numbers of peoples for say
spinning section requires much more as compare to garment.
After this, HRM find out where they are available, i.e. internal or external for
say education institutes or competitors or etc.
Next is training, textile training is very much important, because entire thing is
depend on this. If training is wrong or doesnt give result then origination looses
the time, money and effort. In textile we should concentrate on training .In this,
there are 4 types of training i.e., internship, remedial, refresher, promotion
training .HRM provide these by two methods i.e. on the job and off the job.
Training should match with organizational goal, job profile, job description,
characteristics of trainee.
After this HRM should evaluate the training program by taking interview report
submission or by field observation
Next is performance appraisal
Compensation and rewards have to be individually charted depending on the
intellect brought in by the employee along with the time frame for its delivery.
The company should have reward programs on a group basis for knowledge
workers.
