Face powder became part of females personal daily routine in

which most of them have face powders on their pouch or bags. It
also became a fixture in almost every beauty lovers life.

Most face powder manufacturers use talcum powder as the

main ingredient. Talcum powder can soothe dry skin, treat eczema,
absorb and remove facial oils, prevent chafing, wipe away sand,
absorb any sweat and leaves your skin fresher. Behind the benefits
we can get from talcum powder, it has a dangerous effect when
applied on the genital part or even inhaled.
RATIONALE

According to Dr. Frank Lipman (2010), talcum dusting powder

is commonly used to reduce rashes and diaper irritation in babies
and infants. But this practice is dangerous. It can result in the
inhalation of significant amounts of powder, causing acute or
chronic lung irritation, known as talcosis. More acknowledgment
of talcs dangers emerged even from the cosmetics industry. The
president of the industrys Cosmetic Toiletry and Fragrance
Association, Edward Kavanaugh, conceded in 2002 that talc is
toxic and can reach the human ovaries. Yet, inexplicably, talc
manufacturers failed to warn women that the product could be
dangerous to their health.
RATIONALE
The researchers decided to make a face powder without any
harmful effects on the skin with the use of organic ingredients such as
sweet potato and natural scents. Proponents used sweet potato
(Ipomea batatas L. Lam) starch as a substitute for talc in making their
face powder. Sweet potato is one the most nutritious when it comes to
health and beauty benefits. It contains magnesium, vitamins A, B, C
and E which was known to be beneficial for the health of the skin; in
which vitamins (A, C & E) comprised together are known to be
beauty food for the skin. Also, sweet potato is considered as the
excellent source of natural, health-promoting compounds known as
beta-carotene and anthocyanin (Ira Sharma, 2015).

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

3. What is the result of the different test for sweet potato face powder in terms of:
3.1 ph. Level
3.2 allergens analysis,
3.3 analysis of contaminants testing,
3.4 color additive testing,
3.5 cosmetics finished product testing,
3.6 impurities identification,
3.7 microbiology testing,
3.8 bio burden testing,
3.9 microbial recovery studies testing,
3.10 preservative efficacy studies testing,
3.11 product safety testing,
3.12 surfactant testing, and
3.13 taint analysis testing?
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

4. What is the effectiveness of the product as perceived by the respondents in terms of:
5.1 removing oil,
5.2 smell,

METHODOLOGY
This research will be done in two phases, experimental and quantitative descriptive method. In
the experimental method, the researcher will conduct experiments as well as trial and error to
attain the target objective for the product. For the quantitative descriptive method, the
researcher will numerically describe the result of the study. For guidance, the research will be
following the seven steps:
Step 1: Preliminaries
The researcher will conduct further readings on the different issues regarding talcum face
powder as well as, the processes on how to make face powder and its related studies. In this
stage the researcher will also prepare necessary materials, tools, equipments, people, and
place
Step 2: Product Making and Packaging
In this step, the researcher will be making an actual product; it will include trial and error on the
different scents that would be fit to the face powder. Other job includes: recording of the result
in the experimentation on the appropriate quantity of the ingredients to be use as well the trial
and error that will incur in each scents and designing of the packaging for the product.
Step 3: Product Consultation
After making the product, the product will undergo certain testing, such as dermatologist
testing, laboratory testing, product consultation and design consultation to the different experts.
METHODOLOGY
Step 4: Product Testing
If the product can pass to the different test it will be reproduce for
testing on its selected population using inferential statistics.
Step 5: Tabulation of Data
The data gathered will be tabulated and analyze using statistical
tools such as SPSS specifically mean, ANOVA.
Step 6: Paper Making
After having all the results data will be put into paper with analysis
and conclusions.
Step 7: Submission of Paper
The completion of the study, the paper will be submitted on the
users.
