Pronoun is a word
used in place of a
noun.
Example:
Halloween is one of
America's holidays. It is
celebrated in October.

Antecedent

The word or phrase


replaced by a pronoun
is called an
antecedent.
Example:
When Robert was fixing
the car, he cut his
hand.
(Robert is a noun. He is
a pronoun that refers to
the antecedent,
Robert.)
There are Eight special kinds of pronouns:
1. Personal
2. Relative
3. Possessive
4. Reflexive
5. Emphatic
6. Demonstrative
7. Distributive
8. Interrogative
Personal Pronoun
The pronouns which refer to
persons or things are known as
personal pronouns.
I, We, You, He, She, It, They, Her,
His, My, Your, Their, Them Etc .

Relative Pronoun
Relative pronoun is
used to create relation
with previous noun.
Who, Which, That, Whose,
Whom etc.
Example
Johnny is the person who
tells a lie.
Possessive Pronoun
Possessivepronoun is
used to show possession
of someone.
His,Her, Hers, My,
Mine, Their, Theirs,
your, yours
Example:-
Mam Humaira is our
English teacher. Her
personality is awesome.
Reflexive Pronoun:-
When the action done by the
subject reflects upon the subject
then the pronoun used are known
as reflexive pronoun.
Myself, Yourself, Herself, Himself,
Itself, Ourselves, Yourselves,
Themselves.
Example:-

She cooked
food for herself.
Emphatic Pronoun:-

The pronouns used for the


sake of emphasis are
called emphatic pronouns.
Myself, Yourself, Herself,
Himself, Itself, Ourselves,
Yourselves, Themselves.
Example:-

She herself
arranged a
party.
Demonstrative pronoun:-
Thepronouns which are used
to point out the objects to
which they refer are known
as demonstrative pronouns.
This,that, these,
those.
Example:-
I bought many chairs
yesterday but this is
the best.
Distributive Pronoun:-
A pronoun which shows
distribution among things is
known as distributive
pronoun.
Each, Either, Neither,
Or, Nor, Some, Many.
Example:-

Each of the boys gets


prize.
Interrogative Pronoun:-
Interrogative pronouns
are used to ask questions.
Who, Whom, Which,
Whose
Example:-

You
have two brothers.
Whom do you like the
most?

What is the temperature of Faisalabad? The
temperature of Faisalabad is hotter than
that of Murree. I know the women who
lived in Faisalabad. Each of the girls gets
prize. We enjoyed ourselves at the picnic.
I myself make this presentation. Your shirt
