CHUNKING IN ENGLISH

SPEAKING
High level and native speakers of English divide what they say into
chunks, which can be a single word or, more commonly, groups of
words.
They put these chunks together to create a whole sentence or
idea. Between these chunks there are brief pauses (between parts
of a sentence) or slightly longer pauses (between sentences or ideas).
If you do not pause between chunks or do so in the middle of them,
your ideas become difficult to follow and your fluency breaks down,
which negatively affects the listeners.
Today Id like to talk to you about simplicity. How many
of you in this room think about this matter? Let me see
a show of hands. Think about your life. Is there clutter?
What are you doing to create long-term happiness? Ask
yourself about the things you value. Prioritize them. Let
go of unnecessary things and people. Am I asking you
to stop having fun? No. but if we voluntarily simplify
our lives, we can experience more of what we have.
The world is busy enough. Lets create substance. My
question to you? Will you simplify your life now or
later?
Does it really matter whether people speak
with an accent as long as they can be easily
understood? many people now believe that in
an increasingly globalised world, we should
accept variations in pronunciation. That is
accent. However, there's no point in speaking
with an accent if people can't understand you
,is there?

TRY TO READ AS NATURALLY AS POSSIBLE
Im gonna talk about a person I really admire
whos my dad. As you might guess, Im a family
man and love spending time with my parents and
I chose him today simply because I look up to him
so much. Anyway, I clearly remember when I
realised this. It was when I was about 14, I think.
