before an event takes place so as to achieve good results
in health , convenience , comfort and happiness of all
living beings.
By careful planning, we can eradicate the mistakes of the
past and be wiser to future.

Town or city is a place of urban living. Urban means an


environment in which natural surroundings have been
dominated by artificial or man-made surroundings, which
man builds for himself-for his living, working and
recreation.

Industrial revolution in 1760-1820 is
important epoch in the history of growth
of towns and cities.
This has resulted in the haphazard
development , chaos and disorder in the
town,

Principles of Town Planning
There should be no haphazard planning
Housing and accommodation of various
classes of people should be allowed
Slums should be cleared by making
alternate arrangement of their
accommodation.
Civic amenities like shopping centres,
dispensaries , schools should be provided
to all the residents.

public recreation centres and also for future
expansion of town
Public and semi-public building should be
grouped and distributed neatly throughout the
town.
The system of zoning should be strictly followed.

by provision of green belt,which is open
strip of land all round town reserved for
purpose of limiting the growth of the city.
It is primarily meant for agriculture,farm
industries,poultry,dairies.

parks,playgrouds and picnic spots. It also
prevent formation of slums.

the cost of any proposed schemes
