If these five sources meet explosion

will occur.

Without anyone of these five

explosion will not be possible.

SUSPENSION
Feeding the coal when there is loss of ignition.

Sudden firing after a boiler is banked or stopped for a short period

without proper purging.

Unbalanced fuel air ratio to allow the fuel concentration to fall within
explosive range.

Leaking fuel supply system .

In CFBC boiler until and till fans are in service the CO if formed can
easily evacuated out of the furnace.
But if once Boiler is tripped the bed become stagnates and the coal
present on furnace bed starts burning with low amount of Oxygen
which results in the formation of CO.
When the boiler is again started without proper purging it results in
the explosion, as the fresh air comes into contact with CO inside the
boiler.
Fuel should never be fed into the furnace continuously for more than
12 seconds when there is no fire.
Furnace is completely purged of the explosive mixture and then
fired.
Fuel supply is stopped immediately if fire/flame is not established
and re-purging is surely done before restart.
Correct air fuel ratio is maintained so that dust concentration within
explosive limits is never achieved.
Whenever the tripped boiler or stopped boiler is to be started firstly it
is to be purged until the Oxygen percentage becomes normal.

Whenever the boiler is tripped the CO accumulation will be done in

air plenum (Wind box) and so it enters the PA duct, so PA vent are
to be provided and also ID fans suction dampers to be kept open till
Oxygen percentage normalizes.
