INTRODUCTION
In several process for separating gaseous or liquid
mixture, the fluid is contacted with small particles
of a porous solid which selectively adsorbs or
complexes with certain components of the Feed. In
adsorption the solid is usually held in a fixed bed,
and fluid is passed through the bed until The solid
is nearly saturated
 THEORY OF ADSORPTION
Adsorption is a process that occurs when a gas or liquid solute
accumulates on the surface of a solid or a liquid (adsorbent),
forming a molecular or atomic film (the adsorbate).

Physisorption or physical adsorption is a type of adsorption in

which the adsorbate adheres to the surface only through
Vander Waals (weak intermolecular) interactions, which are
also responsible for the non-ideal behavior of real gases.

Chemisorption is a type of adsorption whereby a molecule

adheres to a surface through the formation of a chemical
bond, as opposed to the Vander Waals forces which cause
physisorption.
