This publication covers information on minerals, mineral-based
commodities .There are two types of reviews in the publication.

General Reviews : It delve into the macro level scenario of the

countrys mineral position, citing all indicators relevant to the
Mineral Sector.

Mineral Reviews : Placed in alphabetical order which provides

holistic information on various minerals and mineral-based
commodities. The topics covered in the reviews are resources,
exploration & development, production, consumption, uses &
specifications, trade, policy and future out look including world
scenario.
IMYB comprises of total 80 reviews. (11 General Reviews, 19 Metals
& Alloys reviews and 50 Mineral Reviews).

making correspondence with concerned agencies well in
advance. )

READ THE GUIDE LINES PROVIDED
The improvement in quality of reviews by incorporating latest
information/data
The style of presentation should be as in the preprint/soft copy
of earlier published IMYB
The author should also ensure to submit all tables in PageMaker
The authors should check the statistical and other data supplied
to them.
The Review should be submitted within 10 days from the receipt
of required data.
At the time of submission of Review the author will indicate the
data that was not available for incorporation and up-dation of the
review
The introductory remarks should draw attention to the most important
developments in respect of the concerned mineral during the financial year

The details of exploration carried out by various Agencies will continue to be

presented in a tabular format
The data on foreign trade, production and prices for Minor Minerals will be
collected by authors making correspondence with concerned agencies well in
advance.
The authors may consult the IMYB Units files maintained for the purpose.
It is also advised to consult MIAS files to incorporate recent data/information
besides internet and others information sources referred in the check list annexed
herewith to overcome the inadequacy.
A brief summary about the mineral analysing and highlighting the
technological developments, future demand, supply, markets, etc., should be
given under the sub-heading Future Outlook.
Quality improvement of reviews by authors is a year-long constant endeavour
and authors are supposed to abide by this.
 Preparation of IMYB is a continuous process.

In this regard, individual authors are advised to keep update with the
developments/data/information at any point of time during the course
of preparation of reviews so that they can disseminate the
information/data as and when required for Ministry references/P.Qs,
as also for drafting of reviews next year.

Too many punctuation marks and unnecessary
suggestions from editors.
Re-orientation of text and data will alter the
formatting.
IMYB unit should take care why bothering us. etc.etc.
Editing is just as difficult as writing. Probably even more difficult.

Editing is a balancing act [between] cleaning up a piece of writing

while keeping [it] true to its intentions.

Editors assist the writer by fixing errors and/or suggesting

improvements .

An editors true value is in enhancing and improving content not only

being the grammar police .

Editors uses internal/external standards and guidelines to make the

content correct, consistent, accurate, and complete .
Rules-based editing is not enough-the content still may be inappropriate
for the intended reader.

Editing Involves verifying all facts, statements made, analyses,

citations/references, etc.

Editing comprises many tasks-several passes are required to cover

everything .

Editing is tiring.

Tools may be useful, but Your eyes and brain are the best tools you
have!

The three tier technical editing is adopted.
Each and every word , including headings, is read with
patience.
It is ensured that the data presented by the Author is
correct.
The Consistency of data presented in General Reviews
as well as in Mineral Reviews throughout the
publication is authenticated.
The Style of Presentation is as per the set pattern.
Enhanced by inputting latest information.
Question and ask for proof for new information
included.
 Common Basic things which are
over looked
Instruction provided with the schedule is not followed
properly.
Earlier soft copies of published version is not utilized.
The format of earlier reviews distorted.
The accepted spellings of countries in earlier versions
are not retained.
No reading with patience.
Corrections marked during technical and general
editing are not carried out properly and accurately.
 Suggestions for the Authors
The information and data collection should start as soon as the
schedule is received.
It is advised to visit the library and refer various publications
as well as Websites of important Ministries/Companies.
Read thoroughly the first draft and make as many changes
possible in the first draft.
Avoid cut and paste technique.
Read patiently and thoroughly.
Ensure every correction is carried out before taking print to
save papers and in turn environment.
Feel free to interact with the persons involved in the process of
bringing out this prestigious flagship publication.
