- Entails influencing or motivating subordinates to do
their best so that they will be able to help the
organizations endeavor to attain their set goals

- Involves evaluating and (if necessary) correcting the
performance of the individuals or work groups or
teams to ensure that they are all working toward
the previously set goals and plans of the
organization

TASK!

1. Interview two department chairpersons in your school


and ask if they really make use of all the five
management functions. Compare their answers and try
to explain why there are similarities or differences.
2. Select two organizations (1 private and 1 public, 1 big
and 1 small). Describe how they are structured and
explain why a study of management functions is
necessary for their managers.
