The Competencies between Foreign and Filipino Employees in the

Philippines and the Factors that Causes Unfairness within the Workplace
BACKGROUND of the STUDY
The study identified how foreign workers started to work in the Philippines,
the custom and cultural differences, contemplating the communication and
behavior of foreign and local workers, and how it affects the treatment of
local workers within an organization that leads to unfairness in workplace.

Related to this, researchers looked for information to clearly understand the

current situation of both workers in workplace. In general view, there are pros
and cons in having foreign workers in the Philippines. Work ethics in the
Philippine setting are diverse and regarded as multicultural. This affects other
related national concerns and can be a source for basis of future developments
in business and labor subjects.
REVIEW of RELATED LITERATURE
The emerging foreign relations, the rise of globalization and the
continued economic growth of the Philippines, causes the
increase of number of Foreign Employees in the country.

In 2014, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)

released an occupational shortage list that require
certain skills which may not be available in the current
drove of unemployed and underemployed Filipinos (Paz, 2014)
.
Due to the increase of number of accepted foreign employees in
the country, the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP)
recent reports show that theres also a rise in the number of illegal
foreign workers in the Philippines.

The difference between the foreign and local employees has been
discussed with factors such as nature of work, to compensations
and benefits, to treatment and the matter about salary.

however, when it comes to much higher positions like directors,
some companies prefer to hire expatriates.
