 LATAR BELAKANG
Cekungan Kutai merupakan cekungan sedimen tersier
terbesar dan terdalam di Indonesia, yang sudah
terbukti mengandung hidrokarbon (Satyana,1999).

Berdasarkan Peta Geologi Samarinda (Supriatna

dkk.,1995) Cekungan Kutai memiliki 6 formasi
batuan, diantarnya yaitu Pamaluan dan Bebuluh.

Penelitian sebelumnya menyatakan bahwa pada

cekungan Kutai ini ditemukan adanya lapisan britlle
shale yang mengandung TOC yang cukup tinggi yaitu
>2% sebagai salah satu indikasi adanya blackshale pada
source rock pada formasi Pamuluan.

 IDENTIFIKASI MASALAH
Pada cekungan Kutai sudah
terdapat indikasi adanya black
shale tetapi belum diketahui
potensi shale gas pada black shale
tersebut.
Penelitian lebih lanjut diperlukan
untuk mengetahui potensi black
