Rationale
Integration of technology in the teaching and learning process means the use of technologies
to introduce, supplement, improve or maintain the capabilities of the students or learners. It helps
the students with or without exceptionalities to target the goals of learning, learn how to complete
a task and to surpass the area of difficulty. We integrated technologies by means of Universal
Design of Learning because if we do not introduce technologies, UDL is futile. We can change in the
way classes are traditionally conducted, improved to a higher level in such a way that could not have
been achieved without technology and the teacher sets instructional strategies to address specific
issues/problems. Technologies occupy a position (simple or complex way) in the instructional process.
It is woven or attached integrally into the patterns of teaching and software or applications are a
natural extension of student tools to guide, motivate and directs learner’s quest for learnings.

SUPPORT LESSON PLAN

Grade level: Six

Subject: English Language Arts
Lesson: Clarity and Artistry of Communication
Learner outcome: Outcomes from the Program of Studies grade six ELA

Specific outcome:

Attend to grammar and usage

● identify past, present and future verb tenses, and use throughout a piece of writing

Attend to spelling
● use a variety of resources and strategies to determine and learn the correct spelling of common exceptions to
conventional spelling patterns
● explain the importance of correct spellings for effective communication
● edit for and correct commonly misspelled words in own writing, using spelling generalizations and the meaning
and function of words in context

Differentiation of Instruction:
● Present ideas through both auditory and visual means.
● Allotting time for student to create artistic reflection and interpretation of lesson.
Student Profile: Student have Code 301 (funded). An ELL immigrant student who have insufficient
fluency in English to achieve grade levels outcomes in ELA or English Language Arts. Student needs to
improve reading and listening comprehension and strengthen both expressive and receptive language
skills.

With the use of these applications (IXL and ABCya), we can help this student in
her quest of learning and motivating regarding grammar, spellings, widens
vocabulary and comprehension to better understand English as her second
language.
