Access Logix Functionality
• Multiple Host Connections to an Array
Exclusive access to storage resources
Presents a ‘Virtual Storage System’
• LUN masking
• Maps VNX LUNs to host LUNs
• Access Logix Database
Manages the Access Control List
Manages Initiator Registration Records

Access Logix Limits
• Host may be in 1 storage group per storage system
• Maximum of 4 storage systems per host
• Number of hosts per storage system is model dependent
• A storage group is local to 1 storage system
• Maximum number of LUNs in a storage group is model
dependent
• Host agent (optional) provides LUN mapping
• User must be authorized to manage Access Logix
Privileged User list or Navisphere Security file

Access Control Lists: Fibre Channel
• LUN UID - 128 bits
Globally unique will never be re-used
Example:
60:06:01:60:1E:40:33:00:69:6A:0A:80:D
1:0A:E3:11
• Host HBA WWN - 128 bits
Static
Example:
20:00:00:00:C9:3D:A6:5C.x.x.x.x.x.x.x.x.
• VNX SP port WWN - 128 bits
Static
Example:
50:06:01:60:88:60:06:02:50:06:01:60:08
:60:06:02
• Host access request forces a
lookup to find a match
If OK, host is allowed access
If no match, host is denied access

Access Control Lists: iSCSI
• LUN UID - 128 bits
Globally unique will never be re-used
Example:
60:06:01:60:08:F0:1E:00:BA:48:55:90:46:3
D:DD:11
• Host IQN or EUI
Persistent
iSCSI provides two name formats for
different types of naming authorities:
Examples:
iSCSI Qualified Name (IQN)
Format: iqn.yyyy-mm.{reversed
domain name}
Extended Unique Identifier (EUI)
Format: eui (e.g.
eui.02004567A425678D)
• VNX port IQN or EUI - Static
Example:
iqn.1992-

Summary
Key points covered in this module:
• Access Logix allows hosts to access data on the array
• A storage group is a collection of one or more LUNs or metaLUNs
to which you connect one or more hosts.
• Hosts can access only the LUNs in the storage group to which it is
connected
