These typically feature external and internal speakers and they are eligible for abstract submissions. ■ Exact dates, venue, time, titles and speakers will be advertised through the SoLS blackboard site. ■ As the seminars you will attend are your own choice, these are not timetabled and it’s up to you to organise your attendance of a good proportion of these, taking into account your other commitments. ■ If the dates and times are not suitable for you or you want to attend more seminars, bear in mind that the other Schools also organise seminars in JBL that might be of interest for you. These are normally advertised to the broad JBL community. TEXTBOOK Weyers, Reed, Jones & Holmes (2012) Practical Skills in Biomolecular Sciences, 4th Edition. Pearson. Assessment ■ COURSEWORK 1: Press release (ideally 400 words, maximum 500) relative to a recently published or about to be published research article on biosciences (preferably a research paper authored by an academic you can talk to). Weight is 50%. Deadline is in WEEK 9, FRIDAY 24 NOVEMBER 2017. ■ COURSEWORK 2: Research seminar abstracts capturing the content of three research seminars attended (300 words each); the coursework consists of either three separate submissions with feedback provided between each submission, or a submission of all three abstracts together.
