Legal basis for the implementation of the Program


-Section 17 of the Local Government Code
-Section 10 of Republic Act 9003
“Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000”
-City Ordinance No. SP-1707, S-2006
Implementation of the Program
The Hiwa-hiwalay na Basura sa Barangay Program shall take effect on July 1,
2011 in the entire City except in Barangay Holy Spirit, which has been
implementing their own solid waste management program even before the
enactment of R.A. 9003.
No Segregation, No Collection Policy.
Collection of Solid Waste

 The following shall be implemented in all Barangays:


Segregation of biodegradable (nabubulok) and non-biodegradable (di-
nabubulok) wastes in each household;
Door to door dedicated collection of segregated wastes.
 Collection schedules will be as follows:
Monday-Wednesday-Friday Collection Schedule
Monday and Friday for biodegradable (nabubulok) collection
Wednesday for non-biodegradable (di-nabubulok) collection
Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday Collection Schedule
Tuesday and Saturday for biodegradable (nabubulok)
Thursday for non-biodegradable (di-nabubulok) collection

Waste Collection(Trucks)
 Trucks shall be marked with biodegradable or non-biodegradable tarpaulins to
indicate the type of waste to be collected upon arrival at the Barangays.

For Barangays that are already advance in the implementation of their own solid
waste management programs, the City shall deploy trucks marked with residual
tarpaulins indicating that only residual wastes will be collected during the
specified date of collection.
