INTRODUCTION:
There has always been an intermittent demand for
movement of packages in industries. The objective of this mechanism is to
transport packages with a system of mechanical linkages.
This mechanism has the principal objective of transferring the
boxes into a position that enables the operator to independently control the
operation with minimum energy consumption.
WORKING PRINCIPLE
The working of box transport mechanism is based on the inversion of a four bar
mechanism. This mechanism uses parallel crank mechanism as its working
principle.
PARALLEL CRANK MECHANISM:
If in a 4 bar linkage, two opposite links are parallel and equal in length, then any of
the links can be made fixed, regardless, the two adjacent links will always act as a
pair of cranks, i.e. , both will have complete revolution about their joints on the
frame. The use of such mechanism is made in coupled wheels of locomotives in
which the rotary motion of one wheel is transmitted to the other wheel.
WORK PLAN
The following are the work plan for the box transport mechanism.

•Linkages: The linkages are made by plotting the dimensions of mechanism from
the 2D image obtained on wooden pieces and then cutting them by appropriate
methods.
•Bolt and nuts: It is used to connect the linkages to each other and also to the
wooden frame.
•PVC Pipe: It is attached to one of the wheel to act as a crank thus producing the
rotary motion.
