Anesthesiologist
Description- Anesthesiologists put patients to sleep with anesthesia
during major surgeries or minor surgeries. Some examples
are brain surgeries, heart surgeries, or to women before
they go into labor
Salary- The average range of an Indiana Anesthesiologist is
between $319,397-$417,973 per year, as of January 2, 2018.
Education Required- 4 year Bachelor’s Degree. Then you go into
medical school for 4 more years to get your degree
in medicine. Then after you receive your medical
degree you have to do 4 years of residency. This is
where you HELP the full-time doctors and
technically shadow them to learn what to do and
how to do it.
There are about 3 main stages of becoming an Anesthesiologist, or any
type of doctor. You have to complete four years undergraduate
(college). Most of the time spent in college is homework and studying.
You will have around 60-80 hours of studying and class work per week,
depending on the time of the semester. It helps to shadow doctors, or
to volunteer at clinics or hospitals a couple times a week. Shadowing
helps you understand if this is actually what you want to do. The
second thing to is four years of medical school, you are more involved,
you get to practice on peers, but there is still a lot of work. The third
thing is your residency, this is where you go to hospitals and clinics and
follow around a full time doctor. The last you can do is optional, this is
called a fellowship. You can work on patients that aren’t in need of
critical care or surgery under medical supervision.
Regional Anesthesia
Description- Regional Anesthesia is when the doctors give anesthetics
only for the region that needs to be numbed to reduce
pain. Examples are epidural, spinal, and nerve block
anesthesia.
Salary- The average salary of a Regional Anesthesiologist is
approximately $195,687 per year

Description- Local anesthesia numbs a small area of the body, arm or
leg, during a procedure while awake and alert. This mostly
includes Dental Hygienist

surgeries.
