HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

• Eurasian Plate ± 7 – 14 mm/year

• Indo – Australia Plate ± 30 – 56 mm/year
• Sunda Plate ± 11 – 14 mm/year
• Seismic Gap =
segment of
an active
fault known to
produce
significant earth
quakes that has
not slipped in an
unusually long
time, compared
with other
segments along
the same
structure

(Lubis, et al., 2012) (McCloskey, et al., 2008)

cGPS Network
• Using 12 Continuous GPS
along Sumatra Segment to
Analysis the Coseismic
Displacement

• Coseismic Displacement :
Differencing ten days average
positions following the
Earthquake from one month
days average positions before
the event
Coseismic Displacement

• Horizontal Displacement ± • Vertical Displacement ±

MSAI Station ± 70.345 mm MSAI Station ± 25.414 mm

Summary and Conclusion

Seismic gap along the Sumatra region suspected due to the largest
earthquake will occur in the future
Geodetic Observation is employed for acquisition data
The highest coseismic displacement was take placed by MSAI Station
To perceive the source model in Sumatra Region, inversion method,
inter-seismic deformation and co-seismic displacement are necessary
needed
FUTURE WORKS

 Applying co-seismic displacement to inversion method for obtained the source

model
 To robust the co-seismic deformation, DInSAR method will be applied in the
future works
 Understanding the pattern of deformation of Sumatra region by applying inter-
seismic deformation that could be obtained using Geodetic Observations.
