Few PMA quest for quality
• Survey Drawing-
Persuaded and
convinced client and
TKC to prepare a
master drawing for
agricultural feeder
survey drawings in
addition to regular
practice of complete
survey drawings in A3
pages. This master
drawings has been
made in A0/A1 size
sheets in which only
Main line along with
DTR, Pumps and
complete BOQ for
feeder is shown for
complete clarity in
one view for the
proposed feeder.

16
Few PMA quest for quality
STAY SET Arrangement –
REC/SBPDCL approved
drawing shows turn
buckle assembly to be
used only at top and not
at bottom of Stay Set.
But TKCs are putting turn
buckle at bottom also.
Putting turn buckle at
bottom makes it very
easy to remove the stay
set by unscrewing the
nut in turn buckle
assembly. As per
approved drawing stay
wire should be directly
tied to anchor rod at
bottom of stay Set.

Stay set arrangement-This is what TKCs
are doing.

Stay set arrangement-
This is what should be
done as per approved
drawing.

19
Few PMA quest for quality
Most of the TKCs are
using 18 inche auger in
pole drillers due to
which the pit made for
pole erection is not
large enough in
diameter to put stone
baseplate of size
450x450 mm. So TKCs
used to chip the
baseplate from corners
which resulted in
baseplate getting
cracked from middle or
getting deformed.

The auger size used for
pole pit drilling should
be preferable 24 inches
so that stone baseplate
in its original form could
be put inside the pit.
PMA team in all
districts of Munger
circle has instructed
TKC through NCR(SOR)
to use 24 inches auger
and not to
deform/break/crack
stone baseplate while
putting it in pit

Oil Soak Pit near Power transformer in New PSS
As per INDIAN ELECTRICITY RULES, 1956,CHAPTER-VII, Provisions shall be
made for suitable oil soak pit and where use of more than 9,000 litres of oil in
anyone oil tank, receptacle or chamber is involved, provision shall be made for
the draining away or removal of any oil which may leak or escape from the tanks
receptacles or chambers containing the same, special precaution shall be taken
to prevent the spread of any fire resulting from the ignition of the oil from any
cause and adequate provision shall be made for extinguishing any fire which
may occur.

Oil Soak Pit near Power transformer in New PSS

 As per BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS,

PART 8 (BUILDING SERVICES ), Section 2
(Electrical And Allied Installations),
Substations with oil filled equipment will
require great consideration for the fire
detection, protection and suppression. Oil
cooled transformers require a suitable soak
pit with gravity flow to contain the oil in the
event of the possibility of oil spillage from the
transformer on its failure.

24
Few Technical Suggestions
Fire protection wall
As per IS:10028(Partll)-19 CODE OF PRACTICE FOR
SELECTION, INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF
TRANSFORMERS:
 Transformers where the oil capacity exceeds 2 000
litres of oil, shall be provided with oil soak pits.
 If two or more transformers are installed side by
side, they shall be separated by fire-separation walls.
Fire separation walls are deemed to be adequate
from fire-safety point of view, even if oil capacity of
individual transformers do not exceed 2 000 litres,
and total capacity of all transformers installed side
by side exceeds 2 000 litres.
25
Few Technical Suggestions- LA in
New PSS on Sec side of Power Xmer
It shall be preferable
from safety point of
view to provide set of
three single phase 9kV,
10kA single phase
station class LA on
secondary side of
power transformer for
protection of 11kV side
of PTR and associated
equipments( 3Rx1Cx630
Sq.mm XLPE Cable)
from voltage surge
occurring from
lightning and system
disturbances.

26
Few Technical Suggestions
Due to extreme difficulty in
reachability of remote villages
for solar Sas installation under
DDG scheme, it will be very
practical to provide a portable
HANS™ PowerPack. With this
you can generate, store and
use an impressive 300 watt
hours of electricity – without
getting an electric bill. Its built-
in lights will brighten any
room, and guide your way on a
dark night. Its built-in USB port
keeps you in touch by charging
your mobile phone. It’s 12-volt
port allows you to operate
small electrical devices such as
computers and televisions.
Best of all, you can recharge it
with sunlight. The HANS™
PowerPack weighs only 4kg,
but is strong and built to last.
In fact, it comes with a 12-year
warranty.

Bottleneck for quick progress

 BOQ finalization is perhaps the biggest

bottleneck presently for quick progress of
DDUGJY project. TKCs are in dark about how
many feeders of what length and
type(Dedicated Agri or Mixed feeder) has to
be erected. They are having trouble in
choosing pole dumping locations since
feeder work scope is not finalized. Thus scope
finalization has to be done as soon as
possible.
