execute our day to day jobs?
 Primary focus on IT and information management
 Rise of KM tools such as Lotus Notes, databases and
Intranets
 First KM frameworks and implementations
 Ensure what is required to know must be available with
little effort.
 Community of practice, Discussion board, Portal, FAQ

2nd Generation

 Are we good in all the areas? Where we are lagging ? How to
bridge the knowledge gaps ?
 K-Gaps are identified and benchmarking standards are always
raised to new levels
 Nonaka’s SECI Model – cornerstone for KM foundation
 The SECI model of knowledge dimensions is a model of knowledge
creation that explains how tacit and explicit knowledge are
converted into organisational knowledge.

technology in coming years ? What the customers are going
