“1. Apply and communicate understanding of the importance of
diversity and difference in shaping life experiences in practice
at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels.”
I have not yet satisfied this competency within the agency. But I
do plan to satisfy this competency when I began to make visits
to different homes and facilities to assess client situations. I then
have to understand the importance of diversity amongst clients
and the different levels of social work because I will encounter
different clients with a variety of different issues,
circumstances, and characteristics for why they need services,
and also they will come in the forms of individuals and groups
as we assist the mass population across various counties.

“2. Present themselves as learners and engage
clients and constituencies as experts of their
own experiences.”
I have not had the opportunity yet to satisfy
this competency as I haven’t directly engaged
with clients just yet. But I do plan to satisfy
this competency also when I began to make
home visits and other visits. I intend to learn
from each situation as it will be my first
experience engaging with adult clients.

“3. Apply self-awareness and self-regulation to
manage the influence of personal biases and
values in working with diverse clients and
constituencies.”
I have satisfied this competency within my agency
while working in the front desk my first couple
days. During this period, I observed and assisted
with numerous intakes and program applications
while maintaining a non-judgmental demeanor as
clients were guided through these processes.
