Depending on the position of the 3-way-valve, the gas condensing boiler can
either be bypassed or not. The heat pump can either operate or not, depending
on the active operation mode.
Three different heating modes of operation and a DHW operation mode are
possible ( heat pump only / hybrid / gas boiler only )
II. Hybrid operation mode ( in which both the heat pump and
the gas condensing boiler are operating )
Note: The system can continue generating heat in the heat pump operation
during DHW-tapping. Depending on the active mode, this happens as
follows:
1. During heat pump only operation: keep heat pump operation and bypass the
boiler.
2. During hybrid operation: keep heat pump operation at initial intermediate set
flow temperature and bypass the boiler.
3. During gas boiler only operation: space heating will no longer be provided.
3. If the flow rate drops and there is a risk for 7H error, the pump speeds up.

The way by which the switching between the different heating operation modes
is optimized can be economical or ecological and has to be set by the installer.

Bypass valve
The bypass valve (DN 25) is obligatory necessary and has to be integrated
at the most remote possible point in the heating circuit.
The minimum requested water volume between the indoor unit and the bypass
valve ( and back ) has to be 10 liters.
It can also be used a frame or a wall console (see price list). Please consider
when using a wall console, that vibration noises can be transmitted to the house
wall.

Refrigerant pipes
The refrigerant pipes consist of a liquid- and a gas pipe.
Diameter gas pipe 5/8“ = 15,9 mm
Diameter liquid pipe 1/4“ = 6,4 mm
Max. piping length between outdoor unit and hydro-box: 20 m
Min. piping length between outdoor unit and hydro-box: 3m
Max. height difference between outdoor unit and hydro-box: 20 m
The additional charging can maximum be 0,02kg*(20-10) = 0,2 kg.
The outdoor unit has to be supplied with power at least 6h before commissioning
( protection of the compressor ).
*: If the required heat load is lower than the capacity, the heat pump can
provide, the boiler will function and provide the necessary back-up heating
capacity.
**: If hybrid mode is activated, in order for the heat pump to be able to get
into stable operation, the heat pump will first be turned on and once in
stable operation, the boiler will come in as well.
***: DHW is provided by the boiler. The heat pump can still provide space
heating.

6. Commissioning SECRET

PUBLIC
The mode in which the hybrid is functioning, is not as such mentioned on the
user interface.
What is mentioned is - for heating and DHW mode – which hybrid modules
(heat pump or condensing gas boiler) are working at the moment, refer to the
table below. Apart from the heating mode, there’s also a domestic hot water
mode.
2. Afterwards, the system layout will start up. The submenus “Standard”,
“Options” and “Confirm layout” can be set.
The unit type, compressor type and indoor software type are read-only.
For Unit control method, either LWT- or RT-control can be chosen. For
both options there can be specified to choose either for a fixed LWT or a
weather dependent one.
if the system can prepare domestic hot water (set to “Yes” for instant DHW
production);
if a DHW tank is installed in the system;
which type of external sensor is installed (outdoor sensor/room sensor);
if an external gas meter is used for power measurement.
There are several occasions which can cause a special start-up, where the unit
will switch in boiler only mode.
1. If ΔT between room temperature and room set point temperature > 5°C, the
“quick heat-up” function will start.
2. If the Leaving Water Temperature < 15 °C, the boiler will start up. The heat
pump will only come in when the temperature has increased up to 18°C.
3. If a low set point temperature is required (e.g. for screed dry out), the heat
pump will not be operated ( caused by LWT < 15 °C = similar to 2.)
The flow rates has to be set accordantly to the requested system capacity.
Therefor, in “Installer settings”, choose “System operation” and then choose the
corresponding “Savings mode”.
1. Economical mode
Requires: setting gas and electricity prices, daily schedule timer for electricity
prices!
The user interface allows the setting of a (fixed) gas price (0~999,00 ), and 3
electricity price ( 0~999,00 ) levels. A day/night tariff or a weekend tariff for the
electricity price can be set with a schedule timer Economical mode
The gas price and electricity prices must be set in the same currency, as
illustrated in the example below:
Auto emergency
During emergency (the occurrence of a heat pump failure), the gas boiler can
serve as a back-up heater and either automatically or non-automatically take
over the heat load.
- If automatic: If e.g. the heat pump malfunctions, the boiler will take over
the heat load as if in sole boiler mode.

8. Troubleshooting SECRET
INTERNAL USE ONLY
PUBLIC
If a boiler failure occurs, the hybrid user interface will detect and display a
boiler abnormality and insists to check the boiler. In order to assign the correct
address to the fault code, the user interface will refer to the boiler manual.
When the controller finds an abnormal situation the boiler will be locked.
- 4 starts are possible before the burner turns into eror mode
- delay time between each new start is 15 sec
