Starting for internship
•Registration of the module

•Signing of indemnity form

•Resume/cover letter

•Identifying the company(decide if you want to apply on your own


or based on school arrangement)

•Upon receiving calls or email from the company for interview

•Upon confirmation(Offer letter or confirmation letter from the


company)-submit to the supervisor(softcopy or hardcopy).

•Fill in the Reply Form and Return it to the Internship Coordinator

Objective/Learning Outcomes of
Internship
Upon successful completion of the course, the student
will be able to:

•Apply knowledge and skills as practiced in the related industry.

•Describe the commercial process and experience in a detailed written


report.

•Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and professionally


with the team and peers.

•Demonstrate professionalism in all rotations and assigned


responsibilities.

•Apply critical thinking skills in problem identification and data analysis


and in recognizing the implications of decisions.

How to Get Placement?
If you are not Working
 Please send in your resume to your internship coordinator.

 Students need to go internship-hunting on their own.

 However if the students wish SEGi Career Office to find the


internship placement. They need to provide the resume
ready before end of March.

 Students cannot reject the placement by Career Office if


they wish to let Career Office to assist in the internship
placement
How to Get Placement?
If you are Currently Working
 Students are not required to search for new jobs for
internship.

 Students’ current job can be their internship placement.

 But students still need to submit the confirmation form


with the signature of their superior at work.

 In the mean time, students are still required to submit a


report and log book to fulfill the internship requirement.
How will you be assessed
There will be 4 parts of components to
completed during your internship:
Type of assessment Weighting (%)

Internship Log Book 30%

Individual Final Internship Report 30%

Final Review from Organization Supervisor 20%

Final Review from Internal Supervisor 20%

Total 100%
INTERNSHIP VISIT
 There will be internship visit from representative from
SEGi College Penang.
 Interview with the students and the supervisor will be
done.
 Presentation (15 min) needed to introduce the company,
and the daily task /project by the students.
 Evaluation will be done during internship visit.

 IF the visit was not conducted, evaluation form must be


completed and also email to the internship coordinator.
Weekly Report
Job Functions

• Daily, weekly plans / functions


• Task given by your superior or senior staffs
• Provide evidence of written communication (e.g. emails,memo, letter,
instruction manual, proposal, specification, technical drawing, etc)- If any
attached to the logbook based on that week.

Logbook- Used the template from the Internship portfolio


- Maintain clear, concise & relevant entries in logbook

Please consults with your internship coordinator on the frequency on


meeting them for the weekly report.
Final Report
Report on the organization (Details refer to the Internship portfolio):
• Background of the business and management
• Procedures and policies
• Missions and Visions
• Organization structure
• Facilities
• Staff and interactions
• Safety and health
• Project
• Findings
• Conclusion
(Estimated : 40 Pages)
Cover sheet: Used the guidelines from the Internship portfolio

Please consults with your supervisor on the dateline on consults with them for the final report
submission.

Students can start researching on the required information from the beginning of the internship and
to complete the report on the last week of your internship.
Final Report
FINAL REPORT SUBMISSION must be done at the
3rd month (12 weeks) of your internship
placement. (SOFTCOPY) including up to date
weekly log & Supervisor evaluation form.

•COMPLETE HARDCOPY report MUST


SUBMIT 2Weeks after final day of
internship.

•LATE SUBMISSION WILL AFFECT YOUR


RESULTS AND GRADUATIONS!!!!!!

 Before Getting Internship
 RESUME
 Supporting Letter from SEGi
 Cover Letter to apply job.
 After get the internship
 Reply form (ATTACHMENT B).
 During Internship
 12th week (3 months), Final internship Report + Evaluation Form +
up to date weekly report. (SOFTCOPY)
 After Internship
 Hardcopy Report (Including weekly report + Evaluation Form)
JOINT REPORT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE

• Even if two or more are involved in the same


programme.

• Each student should submit an individual report


with own observations, recommendations and
conclusions.

• The technical part of the reports could be similar,


e.g. data.
PLEASE TAKE NOTE
Non-disclosure of any confidential information

– “Do not SMS, blog, twitter, whatsapp, instagram, email,


broadcast in
Facebook what cool or S!%@$&? stuff you are
doing”

No negotiation for any increase in allowance

– “Do not complain to the whole world about the


Wah#L?@peanuts$$!! stipends you are getting”
IMPORTANT NOTES
Disciplinary Procedures
– COI (Committee of Inquiry)/BOD (Board of
Discipline) will hear company complaints about
students who committed serious disciplinary cases

– If you have ANY problems during Internship,


please seek help from your Organization
Supervisor, and/or
your internship coordinator.
