INTRODUCTION
• Quantum dot are semiconductor nano crystal could provide
alternative for commercial application such as display technology.
• It could support large flexible display.
• Property and performance are determined by size and composition of
QD.
WHAT IS QLED TECHNOLOGY?
• QLED means Quantum dot light emitting diode and are form of light
emitting technology and consist of nano crystal that can provide
alternative for application such as display technology.

• The light emitting centres are cadmium selenide(CdSe)nanocrystal or

quantum dot.
CHARACTERISTICS

Reliable, energy efficient solution while employing ultra thin material

Pure and saturated emission colors with narrow bandwidth.

Emission wavelength is easily tuned by changing the size of quantum

dots.
STRUCTURE
STRUCTURE
• QDEF utilizes the light emitting properties of quantum dots to create
an ideal backlight for LCDs.

• BEF which is abbreviated for Brightness Enhancement Film is the key

component. It is mounted with prisms. It mainly increases brightness
by compressing light into narrower angle.
STRUCTURE
• Light Shaping Diffusers are micro-structures film. When applied to a
lighting structure, the LSD can manipulate light by changing the
direction of its energy. This allows our Light Shaping Diffusers to clean
up and shape a light beam to suit a particular purpose.

• liquid-crystal display (LCD) is a flat-panel display or

other electronically modulated optical device that uses the light-
modulating properties of liquid crystals.
STRUCTURE
• Bezel is a term used to describe the outside frame of display device.
This is important for evaluating the overall perimeter of the
device/component.

• The light guide plate (LGP) is to propagate lights from LED by total
internal reflection (TIR) and distribute light- emitting uniformly across
the emitting surface
How white screen can be created?

WORKING

• LED-backlit LCDs would use QD enhancement film with red/green

sub-pixel patterned quantum dots, aligned to precisely match the red
and green subpixels; blue subpixels can be transparent to pass
through the pure blue LED backlight
WORKING
FABRICATION PROCESS

• There are mainly 2 types of fabrication process in QLED.

• 1) Phase separation
• 2) contact printing
Phase separation
• Suitable for forming large-area ordered QD monolayers.
• spin casting a mixed solution of QD and TPD.
• QD layers assembled into HCP structure and place monolayer at top.
• During solvent drying, the QDs phase separate from the organic
under-layer material (TPD) and rise towards the film's surface.
Contact printing
• Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is molded using a silicon master.
• Top side of resulting PDMS stamp is coated with a thin film
of parylene-c.
• Parylene-c coated stamp is inked via spin-casting ( a solution of QDs
suspended in an organic solvent.)
• After the solvent evaporates, the formed QD monolayer is transferred
to the substrate by contact printing.
