Abortion is Murder

Thesis
• Abortion is murder and unethical because it is choosing to take a life which is
illegal.
• People need to recognize everyone deserves a chance to live and it’s not up
to another person whether or not they get that chance.
 When Does Life Begin?
• According to an article by Rob Schwarzwalder he states “…It is also quite
clear that the earliest human embryo is biologically alive. It fulfills the four
criteria needed to establish biological life: metabolism, growth, reaction to
stimuli, and reproduction.”
• In the fifth week of pregnancy, third week after conception, the Mayo Clinic
states, “Your baby's heart and a primitive circulatory system will form in the
middle layer of cells — the mesoderm. This layer of cells will also serve as
the foundation for your baby's bones, ligaments, kidneys and much of the
reproductive system.”

• Jerome Lejeune, a geneticist who found abnormalities
with chromosomes that causes down syndrome, stated
“To accept the fact that after fertilization has taken
place a new human has come into being is no longer a
matter of taste or opinion... The human nature of the
human being from conception to old age is not a
metaphysical contention, it is plain experimental
evidence.”
• When fertilization takes place the fetus is given a
unique genetic identity that remains throughout his or
her life.

response to pain, the spinal reflex," is
developed by eight weeks gestation, and
adds that "There is universal agreement
that pain is detected by the fetus in the first
trimester."

 Conclusion
• I’d like to finish by going back to where we began, a quote from
Rob Schwarzwalder, “Those who justify abortion by claiming that
"no one knows when life begins" are not arguing science but
rather their own brand of politics, philosophy, or even religion.
Their argument is not about when life begins but about when, or
whether, that life deserves legal acknowledgment and protection.”
